Anyone know of an apartment that accepts mixed chows???
My husband and 16 month old are re-locating to the Nashville area and I've called a lot of apts. in the N'ville area and all of them have breed restrictions for aggressive dogs. My dog is 13 years old, has arthritis, wieghs 54 lbs., has never growled at a person or another dog, never snapped or bit at anyone (and my 16 mth. old is constantly pulling her hair) She's a mixed chow (I'm assuming) I got her from the local paper stating puppies abandoned next to my house, so I don't know for sure what she is, I'm sure she's a mix of a lot of things. A few people say she looks mixed chow, and maybe german shepherd, neither of those are allowed at all the apt. homes I've called.
I'm in need of help finding a place for us to live temporarily until we sell our home and then buy a new home in the N'ville area. If any of you know of such a place who would accept our dog I would love to hear from you! I'm really starting to worry if this will keep us from moving to N'ville, there's no way I would leave my dog behind but if we can't find a place there's no way I could go...
TIA
Renee'
Re: Anyone know of an apartment that accepts mixed chows???
Don't tell them she is a chow mix! Seriously, most people wouldn't be able to correctly label a purebred dog, let alone a mix. She's a mix so there's obviously something else in her, right? Tell them she's a lab mix or whatever. It's likely they won't even ever see her or care.
That said, Alara Brooke (I think, there are very Alara apts.) apts. off Corothers in Franklin (cool springs) takes dogs. My parents lived there for 2 months while finishing their house here with 1 golden retriever, a lab mix, and a dachshund mix.
Also, check on craigslist for places that are pet friendly.
The Players Club off Edmonson Pike in Nashville allows dogs as well. We lived there for a year with our 40 lbs Rottweiler mix. She's 1/2 australian shepherd too, so that's all they knew about! (like yours, the sweetest dog ever, I don't think she would even know to eat a bug!)
Good luck!
Btw - there are quite a few houses for sale in my neighborhood. (People are getting transfered is what I've heard from those selling). Great brand new homes and great prices in a really growing area! I LOVE my neighborhood!
Thanks JCM.....I've thought about saying she's part golden retriever just cause she has kinda long hair where as a lab has short hair. All of the apartment homes tell me they need some sort of documentation from your vet. verifying the breed and the weight. I'm sure I can get my vet. to say she's a mixed golden, since she very well could be. I just hate to lie, and be walking around the complex with my dog all worried.
I've looked online at homes in Spring Hills and there a bit pricey for us. We would like a home over 1700 sq. ft. and under 160k and I haven't seen any...but I'll keep looking 'cause I know it's a really nice area.
Thanks again,
Renee'
Yeah, def. have your vet fudge some papers!!! There is no reason to be worried if she really is truly a mix - she could be ANYTHING!
Hmmm I am not 100% sure about the house sizes in our neighborhood, but I would guess they're selling for around that price. I know ours is 1400 sq feet and we paid $150,000 brand new.
Our neighborhood is Whispering Woods if you want to check more into it and I'd recommend Monica Raines if you're needed a good realtor (I can't remember if you said you had one in a previous post). She has been great to work with and also lives in our sub. She really knows the spring hill area!
