Hi TN ladies,
We stayed at Dancing Bear Lodge over the weekend, and I thought I'd give you a short review.
I have to say I was a tiny bit disappointed, since the lodge is owned by the same proprietors who run Blackberry Farm I guess I was expecting a lot. The accommodations were nice--our cabin was nicely furnished, the bathrooms are spacious and the private porches with hot tubs are nice to have. But there were none of the little things that I'd expect--good linens, etc--and nothing out of the ordinary to make the stay special. There's also no room service, which I didn't realize and was a huge disappointment to me as one of the highlights of any getaway to me is room service breakfast.
The staff was attentive and the one semi-bright spot was the restaurant. My husband and I both thought the food was fantastic--and we're hard to please when it comes to restaurants. But be warned that reservations are required and the menu is small--not much more than a tasting menu, really. I think there were three salads, four entrees and two desserts to choose from. Which would've been fine with us except that they ran out of one of the desserts before we finished our meal and the only choice was one we weren't interested in. If you're only going to serve two desserts you better make sure you have enough of both, in my opinion.
In the end it's a nice weekend getaway spot--but it's not extraordinary. I think there are better choices within driving distance of both East and Middle Tennessee.
Re: Review: Dancing Bear Lodge
Very interesting! I would have had the same expectations as you given the common owners w/ Blackberry. . . . good to know. Hope you and DH still enjoyed your weekend!
By the way, love your new sig pic
