Any teachers on here?

Just wondering what teaching was like in TN.  DH and I are looking forward to relocating to TN in a few years when he finishes school, and I will be looking into getting a job as a teacher.  We are not sure of the area yet.  We know we want Nashville or east of there, and we really like the Cookeville area.   Anyway, just wondering how the schools were there, how the benefits are, etc.  Any advice is appreciated. :)

Re: Any teachers on here?

  • It's all about where you end up teaching. Currently I am teaching with MNPS and the pay is better than some other counties. I do make more with MNPS but I do deal with more difficult students than i dealt with in Wilson County. I taught in Wilson as an interim and loved it. I have a friend that teaches in Williamson County and loves it. Check out the school systems' websites for info on the pay scale and benifits.
check out: MNPS (davidson), Wilson County School, Williamson County Schools, Murfreesboro City Schools, Sumner County Schools, and Lebanon City Schools, oh and cookeville is Putnam county.
    Hope this helps!

  • Not a teacher but my MIL & SIL are teachers in Sumner County and are quite happy. The elementary school my MIL teaches at is a Blue Ribbon School and the way she talks about it there is a lot of parental involvement and lots of involvement in the community. I have friends who are teachers as well and my friends that are the happiest are the ones in Williamson County. I have a friend who taught in Metro and found it disheartening? The pay was very good though. HTH.
