We Can't Let This Happen!
This is BEYOND ridiculous! What's next??? Rotties? German Shepherds? Huskies??? We cannot let this bill be passed....it will not stop with Pit Bulls. Please call the state & oppose this bill! Send this to everyone you know! Pit Bulls are not the problem....PEOPLE are the problem! Thanks.....Amy (A Pittie Lover!)

Re: We Can't Let This Happen!
Senator Kilby said Thursday night he plans to back down on banning all pit bulls and amend the bill, adding he simply wanted to file some sort of legislation about dangerous dogs before Thursday's filing deadline.
"It will be to say that if you own one of these dogs, whether it's a pit bull or whether it's some other vicious dog that has been made to be vicious and to have the propensity to do bodily harm to human beings, that you need to be responsible for it," he said.

Feel better?
amykevin- We may have to agree to disagree because I think this is a door that needs to be opened.
Pet owners that train their dogs to be vicious and violent need to be reprimanded (e.g.: fined). This is a form of abuse to these animals.
This ban is not about the animal, it's about the owner, and the ammendment will prove that.
What they NEED to do is vamp up the leash law, and have an anti-tethering law in place. The people who do the bad things to the dogs will continue to do them. There are not enough Animal Control Officers to enforce that.
The fines do not work now...people do not care.
But...any kind of legislation like this against a particular breed is a bad step in the wrong direction, and it only opens more doors.
I tried to be civil but you didn't want to play along, so:
Before you start blasting your credentials over the internet yet again, perhaps you should consider that you?re not the only one who works with animals.
WTF do you mean ?that is not how it is written or presented?? I gave you the sources to put it all together. How else do you think it reads?
Frankly, I don?t care whether you believe Senator Kilby or not. You?ve already decided to oppose anything to do with laws restricting dog abuse. And, you actually think he won?t go through with the proposed amendment?! Apparently you?re off your rocker in the first place. There would be more people up in his business than he knows what to do with?people don?t forget.
Yeah, the leash law and anti-tethering law would be stellar ideas and would solve all the problems...(eye-roll).
?The fines do not work now? You don?t know how they?ll work because they?re not in place (yet)! Also, fines were just an example (that?s what e.g. means).
?But...any kind of legislation like this against a particular breed is a bad step in the wrong direction, and it only opens more doors.? Yet again, this amendment is not breed-specific.
You?re just immaturely bitter that not everyone agreed with you. Get over yourself.
No, you made this personal when you responded directly to my comments.
All I did was provide information for you to consider, but instead you took it completely the wrong way?probably thinking that I was attacking you which I wasn?t.
And YES, you did blast your credentials in both posts you wrote, so how can you say you didn?t?
I realize what I said may have been harsh, but I stand by what I said.
When people say ?let?s agree to disagree? it?s meant as a means to an end. You chose not to cooperate and went on with your little rant. That?s why I wrote the last post.
Look, normally I like you. You keep the board alive sometimes when it would have otherwise been dead. But this one post has gotten way out of hand.
No matter what, we?re still going to believe that the other doesn?t know WTF they?re talking about. I?m done.
