FYI...
The City of Dothan Shelter needs help! You can see the slide show where they were badly flooded on Saturday ? almost to the point of having to airlift out the personnel. Renee Skipper and her crew got all the animals in the one building that flooded to safety, but even though the waters are receding they cannot use this building as it may have structural damage and more rain is expected tomorrow. They desperately need help with getting about 25 adult dogs out of the shelter to relieve the consequent overcrowding when they moved dogs from the flooding building to one that did not flood! The Wiregrass Humane Society (which is a limited admission shelter that is nearby) has helped also as much as they can, and they are maxed out as well with dogs in their lobby, etc. If you are asking ? yes, they have euthanized animals as necessary and the ones Renee needis help with are good and adoptable animals. Renee also said she just met with the leadership of the Wiregrass Humane Society and they are also willing, if necessary, to release some of their animals so they can then take in some from Renee (city shelter). To contact Wiregrass Humane Society call them at 334-792-6693.
Re: For those near Dothan/South Alabama
Yikes :-( Do you have this in a format (or link) that you could email me? I'm wondering if some groups in this area might be able to help as well.
