Gah! Yeah, gave me less than 2 weeks notice. So DH and I have been rushing to get the place ready (hence need for handyman). Mind you they live in another time zone, and I'm the daughter that didn't turn out the way they would have preferred (our relationship is better than the past though).
I am a bit nervous about church. Parents are religious freaks. DH and I, well, we don't know what a church is (for lack of a better term). DH is refusing to go to church at all this weekend. I don't WANT to go, but go cause it keeps the peace. One of these years I need to suck it up and tell them that I am not religious and don't go to church, so stop forcing me to go. (And send them off with directions to church while I go back to bed.) So what if they think I will go to He11. Heck, when I visit them, I usually go to a different service, aka, hello friend- can we go get some coffee for an hour while I fake being at church.
Last year for Easter they were out here. We went to church Thursday, Friday and Sunday. At service Sunday morning the clergy stopped us and wanted to know who we were since they saw us for many days in a row (um yeah, cause the whole church was only about 10% full, you knew who was there). Kinda embarrassing to have them ask us (DH and I, the locals) to come back again.
Almost half tempted to check out a church in the town over to see if that is any more "interesting." Not that I plan on becoming a regular. But just curious if it is nicer and has people more my age (the other church was mainly retired folks... very dry atmosphere for young professionals).
(Mind you DH and I grew up the same religion... so we have that common background.)
