My husband and I are looking at moving to Indy late summer/early fall. I am considering taking a position with the same company that I am with now, but it requires relocating to Indy. My husband will be working from home probably for the first 6 months for the company he is with currently.
I will be working on the NW side by the Fashion Mall. We would like for the commute not to be anymore than 20-25 minutes and we will also need doggy day care possibilities in the area as well.
Any reccomendations as to what areas we should look at for homes? We are looking in the $175,000-$200,000 range.
tia, amanda

The Fashion Mall is actually on the NE side of the city. You could easily get there in 20 minutes from Fishers and Carmel (which are suburbs outside the 465 loop). Fishers is a bit less expensive, housing wise, than Carmel, but overall our cost of living around here is so cheap that you should have no trouble finding something in your price range in either location. If you decide to rent for a while rather than buy, there are several nice apartment complexes within 5 minutes of the Fashion Mall. As for Doggie Daycare, there are several in these suburbs, so that shouldn't be too difficult to arrange.
Thanks for pointing out it is on the NE...which I was well aware of but just miss typed it. We are the type of people who really do not like cookie cutter homes but depending on what we can get for the money we might go the suburb way. IndyPRGirl - working on sending you an email.

I think the northern-most three townships should be fairly close to you (pike, washington, and lawrence). The I-465/I-69 interchange going from Fishers to the fashion mall area (I think it goes that far west - someone ought to clarify) is pretty congested, so the commute from Fishers may be long depending on when you go to work.
First, congrats on your move! My Dh and I lived in the busy Castleton area for 2 years and just moved to Westfield (just north of Carmel and east of Zionsville) and we LOVE the area, we're a 10-15 min straight shot away from the Fashion Mall, have great shopping (Clay Terrace in Carmel) only 5 min away....all without the crazy traffic of Indy or dealing with Indy schools, as Westfield schools are in the top 10 in the state (if you're looking into having kids soon).
You're budget is what our was when we were shopping for our home, and we found ours in a wonderful neighborhood Centennial and we have a 3 bedroom/2 1/2 bath, 1900 sq ft home, 2 story & 2 car garage with nice yard for around the lower end of that range...and it's only a 4 year old home!

I normally wouldn't go endorsing someone, but since she is really familiar with the area you are looking in, I think she'd be a good fit, since she has worked with numerous clients that have relocated from out of state.
I also have a realtor for you as well. We moved down here 9 months ago from NYC (job transfer). We live on the NorthEast side.
