Calbert Cheaney, former Indiana high school basketball star, 1993 NCAA player of the year and Evansville native, announced today that high school students across the state will be eligible to play 3-on-3 basketball with presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama, D-Il., if they can register at least 20 other new voters by April 6. The state has set April 7 as the deadline to register to vote in Indiana's May 6 primaries.
The student who wins the Obama's campaign's "3-on-3 Challenge for Change" may pick two of his or her friends to join in playing basketball in Indiana with Obama before May 6.
"If the student doesn?t want to play and would just like to meet the Senator, that person can select three players of his or her choosing," an Obama campaign statement says. "Those interested in participating can go to Indiana.BarackObama.com to sign up and download voter registration forms. From there, students will collect registration forms from their friends and neighbors and return their information by April 6. Students will keep track of how many people they help to register, and Obama organizers will be in touch with them to help them answer any of their questions."
Indiana high school students who will be 18 by November 4, 2008 are eligible to vote in the Indiana primary and participate in the 3-on-3 Challenge for Change.
