PSA: Registering to Vote in Indiana

A pp got me thinking  that I should do a post on registering and primary info.

If you want to vote in Indiana's Primary Election on May 6, you must be registered to vote by April 7.  Registering is easy.  Visit the link below.  If you need to change your name or address, you can ALSO do it through the link below.

http://www.in.gov/sos/elections/vote_reg.html

If you're not sure whether you are even registered and/or whether you're registered under the right address/name, then you can use the link below to check.  The link below should also be able to tell you where you vote (although I always recommend checking with your local county clerk for that.)

Happy Voting, everyone!

Re: PSA: Registering to Vote in Indiana

  • I didn't know if I was registered to vote or not, but now I'm pretty sure I'm registered at my current address. I just recieved summons for jury duty. They only send those to registered voters, correct?
  • Nope.  They do use the voter registration lists as one way to pull potential jury members, but they can and do utilize license databases, property owners, utility records, etc...  For example, my DH is a German citizen (so he obviously can't be registered to vote) and he was still sent a Jury Duty request (which he had to deny because he is a German citizen!)

Check the web in the original post.  Or, if you're still not sure, there is NO HARM in just re-registering all together.  If you're already in the system, they won't be put you in again and there is no penalty.  Better to be safe than sorry!
  • I am actually going to switch tommarrow when I register my car (that's a little late too.. shhh). The last time I hadn't lived in Indy long enough and had to drive to btown to vote!
  • Thanks for posting the links.  I'm definitely registered with the right name.  (Wasn't sure after getting married last year.)  I think they updated it when I updated my drivers license.  It was good to double check.
