What are the must see's and must do's? How long should one stay? When is the best time to visit there?

Well, it's a huge state.  Tell me which part of the state you're planning on visiting, and we can go from there.

I'm not sure...that is what I'm trying to figure out.

I live in Anchorage, so I can tell you the best time of year to visit if you want fairly good weather:  Late May to late July.  Even then it's kind of a crapshoot for good weather.  It's very pretty here, so rain or shine I'm sure you'll love it. 

However, I really need to know what you like and dislike before I can give you any more advice.  : )

We love the outdoors.... I've heard we need to see the glaciers...we'd love to see bears....railroad.....arctic air tour....and maybe some day boat cruises or something....

We'd like an adventurous trip...

I think you'd need to stay for at least one week.  You'd probably enjoy spending time in Anchorage and down on the Kenai Peninsula (south of Anchorage).  You'd probably also enjoy a flightseeing tour of Denali - they have some flights out of Talkeetna.
