**blackberry users**

I just got my Curve 8310 and I am trying to set up my work email (we have outlook pop email)  I don't believe my company has BES, can anyone help me with this?  TIA!!

Re: **blackberry users**

  • Great phone...I have the 8310 as well.  You should have an icon that when you scroll over it reads "personal email set up".  Click on that icon and it should automatically connect to your carrier's page.  I have AT&T and right now I don't have my work email on the BB because when I got my Curve my company did not support BB use.  You will need to create an account with the Blackberry service (BIS...Blackberry Internet Service).  Scroll down to "Create New Account" then click on it.  After you are logged in you should have the option for "Email Accounts" which you click on and you should see an option for "add an email address" then you enter your user id and password and then it usually takes a few minutes to connect.

If it doesn't let you set up the account you might have to contact your companies IT department.  I know for mine that's what I have to do.  They are out of licenses for their BES now but they can add me manually so I can get around the company firewall.  I just haven't had time to call them.

If you haven't gotten on there already I would also check out www.crackberry.com. I get on their forums occasionally but usually lurk more than post.

  • ok, I just tried that, said the server could not be found or something and I called the IT dept- they said they do not know of anyone who uses a blackberry for work email, they mostly use the moto Q9 or samsung blackjacks.  I have been on crackberry.com quite a few times for free wallpaper and ringtone downloads!!  I will have to check out the forums.  thanks!
  • Yep that's the same type message I always got on mine when they didn't support BB use :(  I think your only option would be to do an email forward from your work account to your BB email address.  That way you could still get your work email if you needed it.

The forums on there get quite addicting (like this place!).  If you see a post from jlp916 that's me :)  There's a Curve forum which I like for specific q&a's.

You should check out the themes on www.pimpmyberry.com too.  I just downloaded the theme that is like the BB Bold from that site.

  • oh ok thanks I will have to check out that website!
