So...

Beyond everyone being excited for this board...what sports does everyone follow?  Who's your faves?  Are you and your husband on the same page, or is it a 'house divided'?

Re: So...

  • I love college sports! Football, baseball, softball and basketball. My favorite college team is the Auburn Tigers. I also love the Braves and the Falcons. My husband and I are on the same page concerning college sports (considering he coaches at Auburn, I'd hope we are on the same page!) but not for pro sports. He is a huge Cubs fan and a Packers fan so we are divided in that aspect.
TTC #1 since June 2008 *SAIFW*

TI, IUIs, IVF = c/ps and BFNs

  • I love college football (GO Blue! U of M) and baseball (Go Detroit Tigers) and hockey (Go Wings!)

I'm more of  a sports fan than my husband. He doesn't watch football or hockey, only baseball.

  • Luckily DH and I are on the same page with all of our teams, otherwise I think it would get ugly. We love all sports, but football (college and NFL) is definitely our #1. We also like hockey, basketball (college and NBA), soccer, baseball, etc. Pretty much all sports!!

As far as who we root for, we are supporters of the local teams to the DC area since we both grew up here - the only one different is that while we support the Nationals, we are Orioles fans first since we grew up watching them. Otherwise it is Redskins, Capitals, Wizards, etc. and the Hokies!  For soccer we like MLS but I am half English so I am also into European soccer.

    Wow, I wrote a novel!!

  • I'm actually a bigger sports fan than my husband, but we both like baseball & football (Brewers, Packers & Badgers!).  We both love going to games, but my husband gets bored watching them at home (I'm usually the one on the couch with a beer, watching the game Stick out tongue)

I'm also starting to get into college basketball.

  • We'll follow just about anything! Both of us are major jocks, so it works out okay. Our favorite sports to follow are football, soccer, baseball, and hockey. We get wrapped up in March Madness, but we're not really NBA fans.

DH and I are definitely a divided house. He grew up in Baltimore (but before the Ravens came to town) and is a O's fan. I grew up in NJ & NY and I'm a huge Yankees and Giants fan. Unfortunately, DH is an Eagles fan and that can get ugly.

  • I suppose I could answer my own questions...we both absolutely love sports (that I could distinguish pitches probably sealed the deal for us...but that could be because I had previously dated a pitching scout).  I'm both an Indians and Tigers fan (odd, I know...but there's good reason for that) - DH is an Indians fan.  We have our beloved Mud Hens right here in town.  I love Da Bears...he's a Steelers fan all the way.  I'm a huge Buckeye fan, while it's 'Roll Tide' for him.  I love the Red Wings and auto racing - he doesn't get it.  He loves the Lakers and UNC Tarheels...I just don't do basketball.  Yet.

  • Since we both graduated from Mississippi State  University we bleed maroon and white. We are also big St Louis cardinals fans and we are big packers fan (I was happy my favorite college player went there so we could finally cheer for the same team!!)
Who let the dawgs out? image
  • I follow Yankee baseball, the Giants and Jets (though I lean Jets!), Cincinnati Bearcat basketball and football, and the Jersey Devils.

Charlie is a sox fan. Boo!

  • We pretty much agree with all our sports.

    Other than Pro Football lol.

  • We mostly follow NFL and NCAA football.  We're both Dolphins and Buckeye fans, but we pretty much watch football (season) every Saturday, Sunday, Monday night and Thursday games.  We do an NFL pool with some of our friends every game/season (for the last five years).

We're both MLB Tigers fans, too.

We do March Madness brackets every year, but don't really follow NCAA bball much otherwise.  And we both hate the NBA.

  • hockey (detroit red wings), baseball (detroit tigers and toledo mud hens), and nascar (dale jr fan).   as for college football, we live in a house divided.  i'm all about ohio state and my dh is all michigan.   november is an interesting time in my house Stick out tongue
    Kris....I'm finally a Mrs! 10/11/08
  • I am probably the bigger sports fan in our house, my DH will watch, but I am usually the one glued to the couch on sundays. I follow the NFL (eagles & broncos). I will get involved in some college football but don't really follow it outside of U of M & Penn State. We also love going to phillies games, but the season is too long for me to be interested all year - around July I start paying attention.
  • DH and I are both on the same page with sports. It's a huge part of our lives. We are both from Pittsburgh so we love the Steelers and Pens.

We are both big sports fans in general though so we watch a lot of different sports.

  • I love that they added this board!

DH and I are pretty much on the same page, we're both Mets & Jets fans (we have season tix for the Jets.)  Hockey is the only place we differ - I'm a Devils fan and he's a Rangers fan, but he really doesn't follow at all so I think he's more of a "fan".  lol.  I don't watch basketball at all and I don't think DH does, either.

  • I follow Red Wings and the rest of the NHL (I'll still watch the playoffs when Wings are knocked out, just not is intently and with more sanity) the Detroit Tigers, and Michigan State football and basketball.

My husband and I are fans of the same teams.  He roots for UofM (who I usually root against) when they are playing MSU, but the rest of the time he cheers for MSU and UofM.  But as with many UofM fans, he didn't actually go there.  Stick out tongue

  • ::points to avatar::

It seems I'm the first Sox fan to come out on here! DH and I are both from Mass so we are fans of all the same teams. We are most into the Sox, but we also are big Pats fans (me more than him though).

  • I love watching college and pro football and MLB. DH is a big sports fan and can practically watch any sport there is out there. I went to a Division 2 school, so I didn't get to have all of that hoopla that most people have about their college sports. DH loves the Gators. I have adopted them as my team. My first Gator game was the national championship game. That was great. I am always a spectator at the FL/GA game. I must confess that I am a Jax Jaguar fan. DH loves Da Bears and the NY Mets.

  • We love love love professional football.  Its our obsession.  I'm a big Ravens fan, DH is obsessed with the Giants - so we both root for the other one's team as long as they're not playing each other.  I have a Giants jersey, he has a Ravens jersey, it works out well. We watch football - games, pre-game, post game, etc. from 10 am on Sundays (NFL network, then ESPN, then FOX) until midnight. love it.

We like college basketball but neither one of us has a team, we just pretty much love March Madness.

We like baseball, he grew up a Mets fan and I'm an O's fan so again that works out well, we don't really have to worry about it, and we're not as into baseball as football, we live 2 blocks from Camden Yards so we basically just love actually going to the games, we go to about one a week.

  • I'm a football and NASCAR fan, I am new to baseball which is a sport my husband loves. He is in to just about every sport there is and will watch everything. Except curling, that never interested him lol

  • We are.....PENN STATE.

Dh and I are huge Penn State football fans.  I love the Flyers and the Phillies.

  • My favorite is baseball, followed by hockey and football. DH and I do not follow the same teams (with the exception of the Rockies).

I'm an A's, Raiders, Vikings, Wild  fan for pro sports, he likes the Rockies, Donkeys..err Broncos, and Avs.

College, I follow Minnesota, Notre Dame and Florida. He likes CU and that's pretty much it.

we do both share a hatred for the Red Sox and Patriots though!

  • We are both Mets fans.  Actually, the fact that I'm a Mets fan is the reason that he started talking to me online.  LOL ... we were at the last game ever at Shea last year.  We're going to Citifield in a couple of weeks and I can't wait!  We both hate the Yankees and the Cubs equally.  I also root against the Red Sox ... but that's for personal reasons.

We also have a local minor league team that we love and get to often.  They're the Sussex Skyhawks in the Can-Am League.  2008 Champions!

As far as football, I'm a Broncos fan and he's a Jets fan.  So I'm a Jets fan by marriage as well.  lol ... We hate the Giants

He LOVES hockey and is an Islanders fan.  I don't care about hockey either way.  I've been to a few games though.

He's also a golfer so I'm subjected to that regularly.  We're both Nascar fans ... Jimmie Johnson.

But I pretty much will watch just about any sport on TV.  Except for some of the college stuff like baseball, football and basketball.  Just don't like it.

  • NFL & NHL fan here. Baseball's okay - like going to games, but can't watch a full game on TV for the life of me.

I am a NEW YORK FAN. I will root for any New York team, but of course I have my preferences. We're both Rangers fans. I'm a Giants fan, he's a Jets fan. But we're not haters like some NYers who are diehard for one NY team and loathe the other. I also love the Colts (and no, it is not because of the Manning Brothers, haha).

He's also a Mets fan, I grew up liking the Yanks, but like I said above, I really don't care when it comes to baseball.

    HATE basketball.

Love off-sports like skiing, equestrian, gymnastics, etc. The Olympics are my fave. :)

  • I love college sports more so than professional, except for tennis.  DH and I love watching sports together, but we don't always have the same favorite teams.

Haha! I think it's because I grew up in a non-sporty family. My dad and bro are not big sports people...they're more into outdoorsy stuff and cars. I grew up in New York thinking "New York rules," and not much past that. My preferences starting emerging as I got older, but I still like rooting for any NY team over others. :)

  • My favorite sport to watch is baseball and I love my Red Sox! I also follow the Bruins, Celtics, and Patriots pretty closely. I'm just a huge Boston sports fan. I'm a big fan of the UFC too.

My hubby and I are on the same page which is a good thing because I'm WAY too passionate about my teams (especially the Sox) to live in a house divided. I could never marry a Yankees fan. Ever. Wink

  • I "follow" college football, hockey an Nascar for the most part although I will watch most anything but golf and boxing.

For college sports I am a Michigan State fan but will root for U of M if they aren't playing MSU. DH and I are a house divided on U of M/MSU gameday, but so is my whole family.

For pro sports I am a Detroit follower Tigers, Pistons, Red Wings and yes even the Losers oops I mean the Lions.

My favorite nascar drivers are Tony Stewart and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Of course living 20 minutes from MIS is benificial. My MIL halps do pit tours and hospitality on race weekends and has promised to get me Dale Jr's autograph this year Big Smile

  • I'm definitely the sports fan in the house - poor DH won't even watch football games with me cuz I get too loud. :)  I'm a Bills fan, he's a Giants fan, but we'll root for each other's teams (I was super-happy when Big Blue beat the Pats in the Super Bowl!)

Baseball is another story - I'm a member of Red Sox Nation, and he's a Yankees fan.  It's definitely a bone of contention in our household.

Hockey is the only other sport I'll watch, but it's rare for my team (Buffalo Sabres) to be televised where we live, so it's hard for me to follow them.  We're not college sports fans, and neither one of us cares about basketball.

Finally another one!! Yes And ya I have a hard time being friends with a Yankees fan - forget marrying one. I honestly don't have a single friend who is a Yankees fan.
