Looks like I'm leaving Florida......

DH got a job offer in central GA. He's just getting his master's degree this month and has been interviewing forever. The job market for his field (electrical engineering) isn't too good around here.

We do like GA, so we're excited.....but I'll miss a lot of things about Orlando. It'll be a big change, that's for sure.

  • Good for him for getting a job in this market! Good luck to you!
  • It'll be an adventure! We are just moving to Orlando from CA.  It's exciting!  Good luck with everything.  Try not to stress TOO much.  Wink

We lived in GA for a bit and loved it there as well.  It's a lot like FL (of what I've seen of it anyway)!

  • Congrats to him aond good luck on the move!
  • Congrats and best of luck with everything! GA is very nice!

  • Wow--congrats on him getting a job!!! Sad to hear you have to move, but it sounds like it will be worth it!
  • Good Luck.  I graduated a few years ago with a Computer Engineering degree.  Couldn't get a job here in Orlando at the time so I moved out of state for a few years but was able to transfer down here about 1.5 yrs ago.  So maybe in a few years you can get back down here :)

That could happen! It's only a two-year commitment and we both have family in Orlando.

My major concern about Warner Robins is that it's such a small town that I'm afraid I'll be bored or feel isolated.

  • Congrats! I think this will probably be a good move for you - he will get a chance to get experience, then he can come back down here and use that experience :)

Don't answer if this is a touchy subject - but did you guys ever get the chance to use the free cycle of IVF? I've been thinking about that lately.

Hope you guys are doing well otherwise! You may be back in Orlando before you know it :)

  • Congrats to DH on the job! Moving to GA will be a change, but it will be an adventure. It will be so neat to be in a new place, meeting new people. It may be stressful now, but I'm sure the both of you will benefit.

I have a few coworkers who all transfered down here from Warner Robbins the same time I did.  I also had to move to a really small town (in southern MD) and while I didn't mind it too much, my husband counted the days down till we could get back down here.  When you live in a small town, you just get used to driving to go do things.  I was like 1-1.5 hours from the closest big towns w/movie theaters and stuff to do.  Eventually, it was nothing out of the ordinary for us to drive an hour each way just to eat dinner and walk around the Mall for a little bit.
