Thinking about moving to NWA...

My DH and I are thinking about moving to NWA. We are origianlly from NEA and would like to be closer to family and friends. We have heard a lot of good things about the Fayetteville area. Do you guys have any suggestions on where to start our job search? Do any of you work for Wal-Mart? Or think it would be a good place to look? I have a BS in Markting and an MBA and DH has a BS in MIS and an MBA, if you have any suggestions I would REALLY appreciate it!

Also any ideas for Neighborhoods? I have no idea where to start and I guess a lot will depend on our jobs.

I look forward to getting to know you guys :)

Thanks,
Kendra

Re: Thinking about moving to NWA...

  • My DH and I moved up to NWA from NEA right after getting married and lived there for 2 years while he finished up his BA in econ.  He loved it there, I didn't really like it.  The area is BEAUTIFUL, and if you like nature and being outdoors there is plenty to do and see.  To me, it doesn't feel as "southern" there...which might sound kind of weird, but I just don't know how else to put it!  But I think my biggest reason for not liking it is that it feels very disconnected from the rest of Arkansas.  Our family lives in NEA, and it takes a good 5 hours to get from one side of the state to the other, because there just isn't a good way to get there!  But it sounds like you guys are in the opposite position of us, and probably wouldn't be coming back to NEA very often.

As far as jobs go, I doubt you or your hubs would have much of a problem finding something in Rogers or Bentonville.  With JB Hunt, Tyson, WalMart, and many office of WalMart suppliers there, there are many opportunities.  I have a friend that works for WalMart, and she loves it.  I also know a few people who work for some of their suppliers, and they are really happy with their jobs as well.  There is so much opportunity there and the area is just bursting with new things all the time!

I would definitely start with jobs.  Sometimes companies like WalMart and JB Hunt (I don't know about the others, but they probably do as well) help with relocation, and they should be able to hook you up with information on neighborhoods and real estate.

Ok, I'll stop now.  I've wrote a book.  I hope this helps!  Good luck with everything!
