Relocating to Boise Idaho!! POLL
I'm excited about the move!
What are the fun restaurants, bars, etc?
What is the best school system?
Where is a good place to live (for someone coming from a BLUE state)?
Where do you live?
What other things do I need to know?
Re: Relocating to Boise Idaho!! POLL
There are lots of fun restaurants, bars. I prefer Opa (a bar), Bardenay (Bar/Food), Murphys (great fish/steak) and more. What kind of food do you like?
What is the best school system?
I don't have kids, but I have heard Boise/Meridian schools are the best.
Where is a good place to live (for someone coming from a BLUE state)?
Probably Boise/Meridian, then you are close to everything.
Where do you live?
I live in Nampa right now, I don't mind the commute however since I lived in Seattle and my commute was longer.
What other things do I need to know?
If you are willing to have a commute, we bought a brand new 3 BD/2 BA home in Nampa 3 years ago for less than $100,000 and houses in our neighborhood are still very affordable, however they are now $150,000+.
Let me know if you want more information. This board is usually pretty dead as you can tell!
I like downtown Boise esp. 8th street area Seems to have some great resturants.
What is the best school system?
I too dont have kids but we live in SE Boise and I have been told that Boise, Meridian & Eagle are the best areas.
Where is a good place to live (for someone coming from a BLUE state)?
That depends on your lifestyle. Again I live in SE Boise and it is a 5 min walk to the greenbelt, 10 min drive to the water for the boat/jet ski's. When we fist started looking I was looking in North Boise but the homes were too pricey, We looked in Meridian & Eagle but I decided I wanted to be close to downtown so SE is a great area in my opinion. about 5 min drive for me
Where do you live?
SE Boise
What other things do I need to know?
the Idaho nestie board is pretty quiet which surprises me since many people in Boise are from other places and I would think they wanted to make new friends and what better friend to make that a fellow nestie
I still get lost in Boise and we have been here for a year so buy a map of the area. There is alot to do in this town esp. outside activities. Buy a home with A/C it gets HOT! HTH!
What is the best school system? meridian or boise schools
Where is a good place to live (for someone coming from a BLUE state)? oh gosh we have tons of new subdivisions but I like the Boise Bench.
Where do you live? I live in north boise
What other things do I need to know? it's an awesome town I was born and raised and will never move. It does get cold so if you aren't used to it you are in for it.
2) The schools here, quite frankly, are mediocre. I spend my days trying to hold teachers accountable.
3) If you are liberal, I would recommend the North End. We live in SE, and it is ok, but DH and I were just talking about possibly moving down there in a few years because it's much more progressive (and has the only health food store in the area).
4) I live in SE, which is considered to be a upper middle class area. It's also close to Boise State (since I'm in grad school) and the greenbelt.
5) DH and I are more open in the religion department, which can be kind of a challenge here.
I am always willing to answer more qs about Boise. My nest name at yahoo
