Planning a trip to Mississippi!

Hello all!
I am from TN and was thinking about taking a long weekend trip for Valentine's Day.. A co worker suggested going somewhere on the beach in MS, but I've never been. Does anyone have any suggestions as far as a part of town, etc? I'm looking for something like a downtown area with little shops and cozy restaturants on the beach or close by. Any suggestions?

Re: Planning a trip to Mississippi!

  • Mississippi doesnt necessarily have much of a "beach"... at least not what you would find in Florida.

The popular hotel would be the Beau Rivage.  There are several other nice hotel/casinos that have been rebuilt from Katrina.

I would check Biloxi and Gulfport.

If you like historic homes/b&b type place, check out Natchez and Vicksburg... both have casinos too.

  • If you are looking for something on the coast then maybe I can help you.  If you are intrested in Casinos then Biloxi would be a good choice.  The most popular would be the Beau Rivage or the Hard Rock Casino.  Both have spa's and crap if your into that stuff.  Also Ocean Springs has a really nice downtown area with little boutiques, restaraunts, and bars.  There are also several B&B's in that area.  Ocean Springs has a beach that faces Biloxi so at nigth you can see the lights from all the casinos.  Those are just a few options.  Hope it helps!
