New to Oxford

Hi all! My husband and I just moved to Oxford. I'm currently looking for a job and DH is starting law school at Ole Miss on the 20th. We are both originally from Georgia and all our family is in Georgia. So... we're pretty nervous/excited about being in Oxford. But we know absolutely no one! So, keep your fingers crossed for us.

  • Oxford is gorgeous!!!!!

I go there a few times a month to visit friends.  I'm in Starkville which is about 2 hours away from Oxford.  We have GTGs here every once in a while.

If you ever wanna hang out, shoot me an email!

  • I just graduated from Ole Miss and moved back home from Oxford. But don't worry... if your DH is going to be in law school, you'll make plenty of friends really fast. Oxford is an awesome town. Good Luck!
  • I think you will love Oxford!  I grew up on South Lamar (well until we moved about an hour away when I was in eight grade).  I ended up going back to attend Ole Miss for college and we still attend most home football games (our families still set up tents in the grove).  We now live in Jackson (my husband went to law school at Mississippi College and now has a job here), but we plan on moving back to North Mississippi in a few years.  My father-in-law actually practices law in Oxford.  Anyway, you will make lots of friends with your husband being in law school...and sometimes you will feel like you're in law school too!!  What type of job are you looking for?
  • I am hoping to work at a bank, since that's what I have experience in. There seem to be plenty of banks around, right? I've heard that When someone is in law school for their first year, they really don't have time for anyone and anything else! So, I'm also going to try and a get a job coaching gymnastics in Batesville, because I've coached for about 6 years now. I am really looking foward to being in Oxford. We are moving from Athens, which is so much bigger... and stressful. So, far Oxford is beautiful and everyone seems really nice (even though we've only been out a few times). Our neighbor even offered to cut our yard while we were gone for our wedding, honeymoon, and college graduation. This friday (the 10th) we will be out there permanently! I'm really excited!
  • I live in Abbeville, which is very close to Oxford and I work at Ole Miss. I like it here. I came here for school in 1999, but my DH has always lived here, so I ended up staying!
