so i know this is a long shot, but...

dh and i are moving to portland this summer..thing is we don't know anyone in the area. i am very very very nervous about signing a lease for somewhere to live without being able to see it...so I'm on the hunt to find someone with a little extra time on their hands where they could look at a few places for us as they come up..i know this is a lot to ask of a stranger, but we'd take you out for a really nice dinner or something when we came into town...pay for all of your gas, etc....

so, if anyone is interested, please e-mail me dajelly at gmail dot com.

regardless, we're currently looking at this condo....it seems great, and the person renting it out seems awesome...all 4 of our pets (2 dogs, a cat and a rabbit) are allowed...which is the most important thing for us right now...only thing we're worried about is room to take the dogs out to go to the bathroom...we really really want to rent a house if possible, so that they can have  yard...this condo has a little patio, but it doesn't look suitable for potty breaks....the girl renting it out insists that there is tons of area around the condo complex to take them out, but i'm wondering how true this is.

has anyone heard of oswego terraces? i guess they used to be apartments...here is their website: www.oswegoterraces.com

here is the link to the actual condo we'd be renting: http://portland.wweek.com/ApartmentsForRent/_1_250_2br_mid_century_dream_condo_luxury_remodel_in_08/classifieds/ViewAd?oid=1135521

Re: so i know this is a long shot, but...

  • Sorry I can't really help you with your search as I have a fulltime job and a family that is taking up lots of time. But I can help you a little bit with this condo. First off, Lake Oswego is south of Portland, it is not IN Portland, I hope that you're aware of that. That said, it is a beautiful place to live, more upscale than certain parts of Portland and I'm sure there will be plenty of green surrounding it where you can take your dogs for a walk. The fact that you can rent this condo and have your pets there is good.?

If you want a house closer in you could try to find something in SE or NE Portland. In SE, Sellwood is nice.?

    ?

  • My ex used to live near there.  The condos are next to a park, so it would be good for taking the dogs out.  There's also a great dog park called Luscher Farms that's maybe a 3 minute drive.  And, Groves Vet Clinic and Petco are within walking distance.  You'll be close to little shops and restaurants too, and it's an easy commute to LC.

I think that it's a great place to start living, and then you could explore the city and see if there's somewhere you'd prefer to live.

  • great, thank you guys, I really appreciate that feedback! We do know that it's south of portland, but where it's at is super close to L and C....3.4 miles I think, so it's an easy commute. thanks, again!!

  • My mother in law actually lives there.  They are really nice.  There is a wide range of ages there and the grounds are really nice.  Part of them over look the river and there are a couple pools.  Only real neg. about the place I have to say is sometimes it is hard to pull out into traffic when leaving but what is a couple min.  Honestly they are really nice, and large.

    Good luck!
