Hair salon recs in Charleston

Hi from a MI nestie!

My little sis lives in Charleston and is having trouble finding a hair salon that she likes and that she can afford.  I told her I would try and help her out by asking around on here.

She lives in Mt. Pleasant and just needs a place to get a good haircut, but not crazy expensive.  Things are a bit tight for her money-wise just because she moved down there about 6 months ago and is still getting settled financially into her first job out of college.  She's at the point where she'll go to Fantastic Sam's but I said no because I've had my hair butchered at places like that, lol.

Does anyone have any recs?  I'm sure she would be willing to drive a bit if ncessary.  She has friends that live all over the area anyway.  Thanks!!!

Re: Hair salon recs in Charleston

  • I go to Strawberry Blonde Salon in West Ashley (off Savannah Hwy on Magnolia...right next to Al di La...which has the best tiramisu...but anyway) Haircuts start at $35 here depending on who you go to.  I completly trust them with my hair cut and color and have always been happy with  my results.  There are around 8 stylists or so.  I also have friends that go to Stella Nova.  I am not sure about their pricing.  Both places have websites you can visit.
  • I had horrible service at Stella Nova.  I would never go back there.  I recommend Escape Salon & Spa in North Charleston, right off Rivers in the plaza with Piggly Wiggly.  Ask for Alena. I've never had a better stylist. 843-509-7448

  • i've been going to stella nova for the past 2 years.  there are locations all over charleston.  there are different tiers of pricing depending on the person you go to.  tell her when she calls to make an appt to ask for one of the cheaper people in the salon.  i think i paid $40 the first few times until i found a hairdresser there i really liked.

  • I am Alena :) thanks for recommending me! I have PM'd you with my website. I have extremely affordable pricing, and I am one of 2 certified Redken colorists in the Lowcountry. I'd love to help you and/your sister!
