  • Humm... depends on your age or interests I guess.

Do u have kids? Married?  Kinda makes a difference I guess.  I have only lived here for a year but if you are looking for family things to do, I have some ideas:)

    Where did ya move from?

  • Well, what sort of things do you like to do? We have TONS here in the way of museums and the like, not so much for actual activities. I always wish we had more fun stuff to do here than go to the movies! I have lived here since I was 4 or 5 and I still haven't found many things to do. I will be keeping an eye on this post too heh. I am always willing to try new stuff.
  • Welcome to New Mexico.

As another poster said, what are you interested in? It makes a difference what we recommend. Also, what part of ABQ are you in? Depending on where you are and how much you want to drive affects reccomendations.

ABQ doe shave a lot of activities going on. But things aren't necessarily published a lot and you have to search to find them.

ABQ has a great arts scene. We have tons of free galleries in ABQ itself in the North $th area, Nob Hill/Dwontown, and Old Town areas. And Placitas, Corrales and Madrid all have great galleries. The ArtsCrawl First friday series is a blast (different gallery shows that are free every first Friday of the month.)

The theater scene has been growing like gangbusters. One of teh highlights is going on right now - Tricklock's Revolutions. Between Fusion, Tricklock, Adobe, Vortex and UNM there is a performance going on every weekend. You have the symphony and various muscial performances. In the summer, you get live music 4 days a week - Thursday & Friday at the Zoo or Botanic Garden, Saturday  & Sunday at the ABQ Musuem/Old Town or Civic Plaza Summerfest. There's a pretty lively Slam Poetry scene with events a few times a month. And all the clubs downtown with live music.

You have all the outdoor activities. Hiking in the Sandias & Manzanos or along the Bosque trails, at Petroglyphs, in Bernco open space. You have excelent snowshoeing and skiing in the east mountains. Summer has kayaking and canoing along the Rio Grande. Wind surfing at Cochiti Lake. Biking along all the bike trails.

The musuems al sponsor events that are fun. The fractal shows at Lodestar/NM Natural History Museum are fun. Adult night at Explora Children's Museum are fun. The ABQ Museum usually have talks and events with special exhibitions (they had a great Hafila - Eqyptian Dance Party this Friday that we enjoyed).

For resteraunts, it depends on your price point and type of food. ABQ has some hidden gems like Chef du Jour, Terra, High Noon, Mariscos, Church ST Cafe, Relish, Asian Noodle Bar, Yannis that get written up in Savuer, Gorumet, etc. And then we have great hole-in-the-walls.
  • Thanks Ladies. DH and I are in our mid 20's.  No kids, and we aren't into the bar scene.  We are really intersted in just learning more about the city. Driving is not an issue for us at all!

  • I recently moved to the ABQ area as well (about 1 month ago). DH and I are in our mid-twenties with no kids. Maybe we could plan on getting together? E-mail meif your interested jenn.b57@gmail.com.
