Poll: Living in Vermont

I thought I would spark some local interest. It seems like this board is completely unused, so I decided I would pose a question for fun. 1. Where do you live? 2. What do you like best about living in Vermont? 3. What is the worst thing about living here? 4. What stores do you think should be brought to Vermont that we don't have? 5. What do you do for fun?

Re: Poll: Living in Vermont

  • 1. Where do you live? Cambridge, Vermont 2. What do you like best about living in Vermont? The change in seasons. Spring is my favorite. I love watching things grow 3. What is the worst thing about living here? When we get 4 feet of snow all at once and when the roads are not plowed in winter. 4. What stores do you think should be brought to Vermont that we don't have? Target! I heard rumors we are getting one, but I won't believe it until I see the sign posted on the building! 5. What do you do for fun? Bake, read, take the dog for long walks, work on projects around the house.

  • 1. Where do you live?
We recently moved to Essex, VT from Tucson, AZ.

    2. What do you like best about living in Vermont?
I have to say I love the green-ness and water.  Seeing the fall colors was a complete thrill too.

    3. What is the worst thing about living here?
Well, we haven't been here all that long but...I am terrified of how cold I've heard it gets here in the winter.  I also think it's pretty expensive as far as the cost of living compared to where we were.  That being said, I didn't want to stay in the desert, so the cost is worth it.

    4. What stores do you think should be brought to Vermont that we don't have?
I would start with expanding the merchandize in the Macy's.  I was told by a salesperson to shop online since they have hardly anything in stock.  I confess I was shocked.

    5. What do you do for fun?
We like to snowboard, hike, go paddling, walk the dog, read, watch movies (esp. at the Roxy) eat out, checkout live music, beer and wine tastings, biking, and we're getting better with home improvement.
  • This is great... I occasionally come check this board but it's always dead!

    1. Where do you live?
    Monkton

    2.  What do you like best about living in Vermont?
It's home, I can't imagine living anywhere else.  The changing seasons, the views, the mountains...

    3.  What is the worst thing about living here?
The cost of living, and not a lot of opportunities for my line of work...

    4.  What stores do you think should be brought to Vermont that we don't have?
Target, but I've heard they won't even bother with us :(

    5.  What do you do for fun?
I play hockey, garden, house renovations, play with our puppy dog, spend time with our families...
  • Hi!!

I am posting late.............I watch this board often and notice that it is slow. My husband is from the Northeast Kingdom (Hardwick, VT) and I am from Tilton, NH.

We currently live in Cary, NC but will be moving to the Burlington area in the spring. We are exicted to buy a house..........hopefully a nice older farm house to fix up...........and settle down to our lives!!

I do want to meet other knotties in VT.....I do not know anyone up there! So, I hope this board picks up!

    1. Currently NC, will be relocating to Burlington VT

    2. I LOVE VT and NE because of the change of seasons. Love fall...... the change from warm in the summer to nice, brisk, cool air of fall. When the skies are stormy, cloudy looking, like it is going to rain but it doesn't, with a cool wind and the beautiful colors of folliage...........that combination is one of my favorite days! Also love the outdoor activites available any tome of year.......we are huge outdoor people!

    3. The frigid cold of winters! Love the snow for skiing and snow shoeing, but not a fan of driving in it!

    4.  Definitely a Target!  Plus, I have fallen in love with Trader Joes and Fresh Market specialty food stores, and I see you do not have one up there, at all :-(  I think the closest is Boston, and that isn't really going to work.  I am a huge craft/scrapbooking/sewing/knitting person, and love AC moore (for their constant online 40% off coupon). And there is no AC Moore up there either :-(  Michaels will have to do for now!

    5. Mountain bike/run, play tennis, ski, quilt, scrapbook, read, listen to music, love to cook good food and drink wine, love hanging out with friends anywhere!
