Question from Tampa nestie re: Winter Park

Hi ladies,

I'm from the West Coast FL board. I'm going to be meeting up with my parents in Winter Park next Saturday. I was wondering if anyone could recommend things to do there and good restaurants to go to? Thanks!

Re: Question from Tampa nestie re: Winter Park

  • Winter Park Boat tour http://scenicboattours.com/

     Go shopping on Park Ave

I haven't been up that way in awhile but there used to be a bunch of restaurants in Winter Park Village where the movie theater is.

  • I'll second the Winter Park village...and not too far from there is The Enzian (www.enzian.org)...it's a dinner theater that shows independent films. I think The Great Buck Howard is the movie showing this weekend. The theater is technically in Orlando, but it's on that Winter Park/Orlando/Maitland border, not too far from the Winter Park village.
  • Thanks for the responses. Is Winter Park village a mall type area? And is Park Ave the cute area with shops and restaurants? I was there about 10 years ago so I only vaguely remember.
  • You are right. Winter Park Village is an outdoor mall with restaurants that vary from the inexpensive (ie Johnny Rockets) to the more expensive chain restaurants (ie Cheesecake Factory).

Park Avenue is the cute area with shops and restaurants that you remember. ;) I'd actually eat at one of the sidewalk restaurants to get the full effect of Winter Park. They are more unique than the offerings at Winter Park Village.

And don't forget to do the boat tour while you are there!

    Have fun!

    Hawaii
  • Cool, I think we'll stick to Park Ave and possibly do the boat tour. Thanks again!
  • There is a new Bistro that openned up on Park Ave. You can just walk up and down the avenue and you will find some delicous restaurants and GREAT shopping! The Wine Room is fun too - it's good for some wine and snacks :)
  • If you are staying around Park Avenue you can easily walk to the Boat Tour, visit the Morse Museum, check out the farmers market on Saturday morning, walk over to the Rollins College campus and visit the Cornell Fine Arts Museum, eat at many different restaurants, and do lots of shopping!

there are tons of things to see/do.
