Created new nestie name

I have a new nestie name, SkiGirl1080s. I can't post for three days though.  I guess that's a good security feature.

My last name is unique and some of you know what town I live in.  Over the weekend, a girl recognized my husband and proceeded to ask me if I was "MrsRosella".  She doesn't even visit the knot/nest.  She was looking for venue information for her wedding and she found our wedding pictures and bio link in someone else's bio when she googled.  It freaked us out a bit, especially since I've confided some personal issues lately.

With the new boards, it's obvious we have a few lurkers out there.  I'd rather be known as SkiGirl!  So in a few days, I'll pop up under the new name once I can start posting.

Re: Created new nestie name

  • Smart move! I was actually thinking of doing the same thing!
  • Wow. That would make me feel totally uncomfortable too.  Totally understand your reasoning for doing this.  Thanks for the heads up!
  • Another thought, I feel like I "know" some of you all pretty well, even if we haven't met IRL.  If I were to see a nestie and her DH out that I recognize from their postings or bio and I have never met that nestie IRL, I don't think I would approach them.  That's just me...I wouldn't feel comfortable.  Some of you may, but...I don't know.  I just wouldn't.

  • I agree with Aspen.  I don't think I would approach someone, especially a DH and say "Hey, I've seen your pics on the Nest and your wife is so and so."  If anything I would page the nestie to say "was that you or your DH" but def not approach IRL.  Just doesn't sit right with me for some reason.
  • good call and i understand...but now i'm gonna forget who you are!!!!!

heres a good story,,,,there was this girl i forgot what board we met, but anyhoo, we took the same NCL cruise for our honeymoon and we emailed each other and said we should hook up on the cruise....(FYI-she had face pics in her bio)

so long story short, we never emailed and we happened to be on a luau in Maui and I ran into her and her dh on my way to the bathroom, and I asked her if she was so and so (i forgot her name now)...anyways,,,she seemed really weired out by it, but we did say we'd meet up so wtf?

I think she was embarassed in front of her DH at the time.LOL

  • good move!  i actually had this experience with a server at a restaurant who was lurking on the knot boards, and it freaked me out... i have changed my name and don't have my wedding pics posted anywhere... i just don't want to be recognized!
  • Very prudent.. But seriously, why would someone post a link of your bio?? Maybe I'm misunderstanding something, but that's pretty creepy. Although your bio was one of the most beautiful around. Nevertheless, I wouln't dream of going up to a random stranger - regardless of knowing he was married to a fellow knottie/nestie. In fact, I've actually seen someone's DH a couple of times. I instantly recognized him from seeing his pics posted on the Knot and the Nest, but and I couldn't bring myself to go up to him to say, "Hi, I know your wife through this message board, yadda, yadda, yadda, and I loved your wedding pictures, video, etc". That would just scream stalker. I honestly think we reveal way too much on these boards. And now, considering the amount of lurkers there are - in light of the new nest board - it's apparent we're visible to more people than we originally thought.
  • Very smart move!  That would totally freak me out!
