Surprise Party Help

My mom is turning 50 in July and my grandparents want to throw her a surprise party.  We were thinking about having it on a Sunday and maybe doing brunch.  My parents live in North Wildwood, but alot of my mom's friends live in Voorhees, Berlin, Laurel Springs etc.  We were thinking that the Glassboro area would be a good midpoint.

My grandparents already researched Adelphia's.  Does anyone have any other suggestions as to where we should have it?

Re: Surprise Party Help

  • Terra Nova is on Delsea Drive and they are fantastic....Landmark, but they are more of the sports bar feel
  • My bridal shower was at the Landmark in the back room and it was perfect. You didn't even realize you were at the bar except for walking past it to get to and from the front door. The prices were pretty reasonable too, I believe.

  • I don't know how many people you guys are looking to have but we had my rehearsal dinner at the Italian Affair in Glassboro and it was fantastic! They just redid the inside of it, they have a back room area for parties, and the prices/menu choices were great.
  • We're looking to have about 50 people. If anyone has any suggestions outside of Glassboro, feel free to throw them out there :)
  • Pine Hill Golf Club in Pine Hill

Stone Grill in Blackwood (my cousin had her 25th bd party there, about 30 ppl)

     Filomenas in Blackwood and Berlin

Valley Brook Golf Club in Blackwood (my other cousin had her 21st here, was really nice.  She opted to have hers under the tent in June).

I had a bachlorette dinner at Adelphias and was not happy with their service(about 25 ppl).  They were very slow and they brought food out at different times, didn't really keep filling up water, etc.)

  • I have to agree with SG5506 about Adelphia's. My parents had their company Christmas party there one year and we weren't very happy with it.

Filomena's and Pine Hill are great suggestions. Pine Hill's brunch is really good - not sure how they would do it for 50 people, but it's worth calling. Everyone I worked with there for my wedding were great.

  • We had our rehearsal dinner at Filomena's in Deptford in the upstairs room and we couldn't have been happier. The food was delicious and we had direct access to the bar if we didn't want to wait for the server to come around for our drink order. It was also super reasonable for all the food we got. I think it was $1500 for about 35 people with an open bar.

  • I forgot to mention that Charlie Brown's in Blackwood is also good.  I had my rehearsal dinner there. They have a room to the side for larger parties.
  • When we were looking for Staci's shower, we also really liked Toscana's in Mullica Hill.  Not sure how many people you're planning on, but the menu selection was good and it was BYO.

We loved the Landmark, though, and thought they did a great job.
