The new Nest ate my other post!
Anyway... does anyone have any sushi recs in the city, preferably the north side? I've never had sushi before so would rather go some place that won't turn me off from it, and preferably someplace not too trendy. I know a few of you had replied earlier but I don't remember what was suggested. And then the Nest Gods wrought havoc on the board. Grrrrr.
Re: re-posting- sushi recs?
If you'd like to try great sushi, but also have other choices, I'd recommend Blue Water Grill in River North. Their sushi is outstanding, and they have traditional stuff, as well as "trendier" stuff. And, if you don't like it, you can get something else amazing for dinner.
I also like Kamahachi - which has a location on the north side and it streeterville.
Because we're fancy like that.
DH, my former roomates, and I went to Sushi Para Two on two seperate occasions. The non sushi eaters got a chicken dish. My friends said it was one of the best spicy tuna rolls they have had. They also include soup and other sides in their special all you can eat pricing of $17 or $18.
My friend also likes a place called Butterfly/Monarch... one of those.
There is a a zagat rated one on North Avenue kinda near Wells called Mizu and it has received good reviews.
Word of warning at Sushi Para Two, their rolls are big (but really yummy).
I agree with joelen&louis, yelp.com can be a great help.
My favorite is COAST Sushi but I've only had takeout so I'm not sure what it's like inside - probably pretty trendy considering the area (Bucktown/Wicker Parkish)
