Anyone ever been on a Princess Alaska Cruise?

DH recently surpirsed me with this trip we are going to take in August for our 5 year anniversary (7.13.03).  We're flying into Seattle and staying there for a couple of days and then going on the Alaskan cruise.  Any recommendations?

  • DH and I went on an Alaskan Cruise last summer August on NCL - any questions just page me!

I would rec. booking your shore excursions ahead of time if possible...there are a lot of excellent indpendent excursion operators in Alaska that you can use for a fraction of the cost of those you'll get on the ship.  One that comes to mind that we used was Harv & Marv's for whale watching.  Check out Cruisecritic.com for tons of great info.

One of the absolute highlights of our trip was taking a helicopter up to a glacier and then dog sledding on the glacier...it was amazing.  Highly rec that excursion.

It is beautiful, pack for layers, and get a balcony room if you can...it is worth the extra $$.

Have a great time and enjoy planning!

  • We took a Princess Alaska Cruise for our honeymoon.  We went in early September and found that we were the youngest couple on board but still had a GREAT time.  I would highly recommend you plan an excursion at each port.  We did and were really able to see the true Alaskan lifestyle and land.  Have a great time!
  • one more thing...stay downtown in Seattle...there is a marriott right near the pier which is within walking distance of a lot of attractions.  we stayed further out to save some bucks but wish we'd stayed downtown.

  • I've been before.  What ports are you going to?
