That is a very good question. It would rock if they were like frequent flyer miles or credit card points and you could trade them in for something.

I know they correspond with the # of posts...and if you have so many, then you go up in ranking (# of posts and ranking is a typical message board thing).  But, who knows what they really mean.

They are revised nesticles.  I think it has more to do w/ frequency now too.  I went from 0 to 3. (Yippee!)  But, some girls on the MM board were saying they went for 1 to 0.
Maybe we get more posts for starting a post vs. replying.  Maybe we get points for reading a post?

I was hunting around for other peoples ideas

here's what we have come up with on the DC board

you get points for making a post, making a reply, not sure about viewing a post, but it makes senses. Also I got bronze poster status at  exactly 501 posts and almost 10k points.

1. you also get points when someone replies to your post
