Merry Maids?

Good morning girls!

Has anyone used Merry Maids before?

I'm thinking of hiring a cleaning lady to come every other week. Between work, school, and a bunch of other stuff that's going on, I'm sleeping less and less because I'm trying to keep up with the house too.

Do you guys have any recommendations on cleaning services. My first thought was Merry Maids because I see the trucks everywhere and their insured.

Hey - I hired Merry Maids to clean my parents' house before our wedding in NJ. My sisters said they did a crappy job AND stole their just purchased bulk shampoo and conditioner. My sisters were so upset that they called the service back to complain.

Because of the bad experience in NJ, I probably wouldn't call them. But that's just my experience.

I don't have any exprience with them, but I've seen their flyers before, and they are WAY too expensive, IMO.  FYI, my cleaning lady cleans my house every 3 wks for $70, no matter how long she stays.  Merry Maids charges by the hour.

I don't think my lady would go outside Miami-Dade, but perhaps you can get recommendations here, or on the Bump side, for a reliable person.

well, not only that, but they charge like $90 per hour! i am sure you can find someone in your area that will clean your whole house for about $70...

I'd ask around in your neighborhood. I'm sure there are plenty of ppl willing to clean your house for $70.  Maybe talk to your neighbors and see what they suggest.

Let me know how it goes! The cleaning lady I hired was supposed to come for the first time today and stood me up!!!!! I waited an extra 10 minutes and nada. I called her like 3 times and nada.

I am so upset.

If any of you ladies that have cleaning lades are willing to share your lady with me please let me know! I am going to start interviewing again .

 I was really excited too because she has known my dad for ages. She cleans my Dad's offices so I know my house is in good hands since I would not be home when she comes over.

Wow, so strange that she knows your DAD, cleans for him, and still stands you up.  Perhaps something happened?  I'd give her another try.

I asked my Dad to call her just now. She says she had an early doctors appointment and forgot to call. I call bullshit.

When I spoke to her last week she wanted to charge me $90. I live in a townhouse! I told her no so she asked me how much I would I would like to pay and I said $70. So.....I have a slight feeling she is just upset that she wans more $$. I think money is better than nothing. Well see, she says she is going to come tommorow but if she keeps flaking out on me I need to search for a new one.

I would be careful with ppl like her. If you aren't going to be there and she is acting like that. I not saying she is a good person but you just never know. 

and if she didn't like the price in the first place then she should have just told you that she can't do it for that, but might feel oblgated to say yes because she is cleaning for your dad. But you are right, some money is better then no money. GL with her.

$90 seems a bit excessive for a townhome w/ only 2 adults living in!  We have a house w/ just us two and we get charged $70.  The lady first wanted $80, but we told her we couldn't afford that much and then said okay to $70, and has never brought it up again.

Yes, the do charge by the hour, so stories I have heard that they take thier time to charge more. I would hire someone who you know or who someone you know uses.
