Nashville pre-natal yoga

I have sciatica and my doc recommended I take prenatal yoga. The only class I see is at 12 South Yoga. I want it to be near downtown or West Nashville. Is there anywhere else I don't know about?

Also would love a recommendation for a good prenatal massage if anyone has one.

thanks!

Re: Nashville pre-natal yoga

  • This isn't going to help you at all! - But I work downtown and live in West Nashville, and consider 12 South to be pretty close and convenient!  I go from work and just head down 12th, then take Woodmont to get home.  The only place I can think of that might be closer would be Hot Yoga, but I'm pretty sure they don't offer it!  ;)   Good luck!
  • I will likely go to 12 South, and it would be close for me. Just wondering its the only option...
  • I go to Sanctuary for Yoga in Green Hills. Not sure if they do prenatal but you could check out their site -  www.sanctuaryforyoga.com.  Actually, I think they don't have anything called that, but certain classes are labeled ok for prenatal, so that'd work for you!
  • Not in Nashville, but in Brentwood there is a great spa called Blue RIver Canyon. I have gotten 2 amazing prenatal massages there.

Sanctuary doesn't specifically do prenatal yoga, but the instructor will meet with you before hand and tell you some modifications to make to the routine, so that it is pregnancy friendly.

I'll tell you, you would think there would be more resources for pregnant women in this city!!

  • oh darn - I was going to suggest 12 South before I read your post!  Ha!  I took my prenatal class there and loved it.  Check out the wellness center at Baptist Hospital - though they may not have yoga, they do have prenatal water aerobics classes there, and I hear they are awesome.
  • I just wanted to ditto the BRC recommendation.  I haven't gotten a prenatal massage there yet, but it's been rec'd to me several times recently.  Can't help you with prenatal yoga :)
Mommy to Seth (4) and Catherine Anne (13 mo.) Excited to welcome a third child in March of 2013!
