Kind of a call to action for Women's Rights.....
If I can take anything worthwhile from the asinine posts of the last few days - it is a reminder that despite all the gains that have been made in the area of Women's Rights, there are still battles to be fought. Sexism is alive and sadly, far too prevalent.
As a woman who has greatly benefitted from the efforts of previous generations of women who fought for ME, I should be much more of an activist than I have been. More than just being a good role model for my sons or teaching them to respect others regardless of gender.
I am going to have to figure out what I can do.
Re: Kind of a call to action for Women's Rights.....
Alisa,
All we can do is set good examples and be good role models for our children. I, and I am sure that you will agree, want Julian to respect and appreciate a woman's right to be successful.
Agree 100%!
One step further, Marina ... it is our job as teachers to provide a good example and be a role model for all the children we influence on a daily basis.
We have to be proud of who we are, be strong, be independent and yet be loving, kind and respectful. It infuriates me almost as much when I see a woman who is independent and successful and all those lovely key words but isn't kind and respectful of others. If there's one thing in this world that people need to remember it's to be kind to others. No one is better than anyone else ... and that's a lesson a lot of people need to remember.
