PCP/TTC/ATP

We had a great appointment yesterday.  The u/s went great and we got to see so much.  Everything that is supposed to be there is.  10 fingers and 10 toes all the right leg bones.  An upper lip! A four chambered beating heart.  A very cute spine.  So we are very excited.  (pictures on the blog) The baby was moving around and looked great.  I am still measuring behind but the Dr is not concerned so I am not.  I gained 2 pounds (total since my pos hpt) and I think I will start to gain more now that the morning sickness is over.  My blood pressure was great and all is well with mommy and baby g.  We are going to sign up for childbirth classes soon which should be a trip.

We told S's grammie that we are naming the baby after her if it is a girl. She is so happy and got really emotional.  In true New England style she had to leave the room when she got teary. She kept talking to my belly all day and only refering to the baby as Ella.  I already told my mil that I am not telling grammie if it is not a girl.  My mil is also hot on naming the baby Jackson if it is a boy (we were just planning on naming a boy Jack).  Now we are warming to Jackson.  Who knows.

Updates????  I don't have a question so if someone has one pleas post it!

Hope all is well with you all

Sam

Re: PCP/TTC/ATP

  • Sam - glad to hear you had a great ultrasound! Terrific pictures!  It's so sweet that S's grammie got so emotional - now I'm routing for you to have a girl! Smile  Jackson is a great name, and you can still call him Jack Smile

Our update: Pretty nonexistant!  We're saving and getting excited about getting closer (4 months to go!).  C is really getting excited now that we can see the numbers and know we can afford TTC/baby on our planned timeline.

  • Sam - you're killing me - "A cute spine." - lol!  I love the name Jackson, it's in my top 3 for boys, so I'm voting with MIL.

Updates...well we're trying to decide on a donor.  I'd pulled a few profiles, but none that K loved. Then last night I found one that she actually likes.  As she was reading it she was laughing because his answers were pretty much the same as what hers would be.  But get this - K wants to know if the donor has a felony record.  Apparently Ted Bundy was a sperm donor prior to being a murderer....so she's a bit paranoid.  And although the banks do extensive screening I can't find anything that indicates if they check criminal history.  I think DW is going to have to suck it up and deal with the fact we're going to have limited info on any donor.

  • Yay Sam!!!! I'm sooo happy to hear about the wonderful ultrasound Big Smile  And you have some great names to choose from.

Nothing too interesting going on in these parts...i did succumb to an impulse buy. It was a onesie that says "I love my two mommies" with two big hearts. Its silly and rediculously early to buy such things, but I wanted it, and dont believe in jinxes (most of the time), so i went for it :)

Also, we've been telling more and more people about our foster plans since its becoming more definite (as if we're out of the first tri Wink) and we've been lucky to get great responses. Well that streak had to come to an end sometime.... Last night we had dinner w/ my grandparents who are visiting from New Mexico and the fostering came up.  Thier response was twofold: "Why are you doing such a thing?" and "Well thats certainly going to change your life". ummm, thanks?

  • oooh sam, that's awesome!!

nothing new here. I'm casually researching doc types in NNJ since we'll prob be up there by TTC time...

"Why are you doing such a thing?"

Holy cow...that's quite the response! Sorry about the grandparents, but glad to hear that everyone else is being supportive Smile

Elise-- sorry about the less-than-stellar response. Hopefully they didn't mean it as bad as it sounded.

Elise where did you get the tshirt???? I need one!

Argh I am sorry that the grandparents didn't react as well as you would have liked. Perhaps they will get more on board as time goes on.  I am very happy and excited for you (if that makes it feel any better!)

  • Sam - That is awesome!  I love the name Jackson and really lobbied for it. Unfortunately, I couldn't get L on board. Boo.

Carter has a double ear infection.  Decided at the last minute to take him to the Minute Clinic to have his ears looked at and 3 minutes from the clinic he threw up all over himself, my car, etc. L wasn't with me so I was stuck cleaning him up in the parking lot in 40 degree weather and no extra clothes for him. Sigh. Got him home, cleaned him, started laundry, and then went back to Target to get the Amoxicillin.  Thankfully, once he fell asleep, he slept all night - till 7:30 (whoo hoo) and Grayson was super cooperative during the whole thing.  I feel like someone has been since since Christmas and I am OVER it. There weren't sick at all their first 18m and now someone is always sick. Sigh.

Now I need to find time to shampoo the carpet in the van. BLECH.

  • (Sorry-- work getting in the way of my nesting again... Wink)

    As for us: IT'S ON!!!!

Our treatment plan for this cycle: 100 mg Clomid, hCG trigger shot, 1500 mg Met. I started the Clomid Monday night, and will go in for an ultrasound and possible trigger on the 22nd. If I trigger on the 22nd then the 23rd is insemination day.

It's hard to believe we are actually *here*. We've been working towards this for so very long it sometimes felt like it was never going to happen. I am trying to keep my excitement somewhat in check, but sometimes I just have to let it out! Smile

And thanks to all on the grandparent sympathies - i dont think they meant it as bad as it sounded but honestly, it doesnt bother me much either way.  They arent people who are actively involved in our lives (we only see them every couple years) and we've never been close.

  • oh christine!! i'm so excited for you :):) best of luck!
  • Christine that is AWESOME!

    Good luck!

sorry everyone has been so sick.  I hope healing happens fast.  Perhaps with the warmer weather the germs will find some new homes!  Good luck on the carpet!

  • i can't believe we're halfway through the 10th week now. we're starting to tell a few more people, although we still haven't really told work. we called her aunts in indiana and chicago to tell them the news, so most of the family knows now. both of them said they can't wait to see her with a big belly and they want pictures. the only immediate family that we haven't told is her brother/sil, and frankly we don't care if they know or not. i'm waiting until we make it out of the first trimester to tell my boss and coworker--although there are a few people at work that i'm personally close to that i've told, but they know that it isn't public knowledge yet.

right now we're waiting on paperwork to get from one office to the other so that we can schedule our first appointment with the ob. c left a message at both offices to see what was up and i expect we'll hear something very soon. we're anxious to meet with the ob so we can see if we actually like her or if we need to go about finding someone else.

  • (I posted this in the chat post below, but don't know that anyone saw it since with was late.)

I'm still waiting for my period... so we are still in our (endless) loss cycle, and not trying until next cycle. Well [Monday] night, in the middle of the night, we ended up having some sleepy escapades! So sleepy, that I completely forgot about condoms. Since this cycle is not at all normal, I have absolutely no idea if I did or will ovulate. Now I'm really pissed at myself because what if I am ovulating right around this time? What if I get pregnant and lose it again because my body wasn't ready? I'm trying not to think about this stuff since I can't exactly change things or "take it back"... but I'm frustrated with myself and am crossing my fingers that I ovulated when I thought I did about two weeks ago and will hopefully get my period this week.

  • Meegs - don't be too hard yourself. I think the important thing is that you and Trav are wanting to be intimate.  I hear so many stories of couples not having any sex life after a loss that I think your on a better path.

  • So great to hear everyone's updates.  We are skipping a month and trying for the third time in May after a May 7 ob/gyn appt to see about the short second half of my partner's cycle.  In the meantime, and sort of unplanned, she told her dad last night that we are trying - in the midst of a really emotional conversation about family. And he was totally cool and will keep it a secret!  so it's cool that one of our parents knows....
  • Ive been peeing on sticks day and night.... waiting to ovulate.... I should ovulate tomorrow but I am doubtful although my line is getting darker and darker. :)

Anyway that's all for us aside from we are going to buy the dresser today!!!!! This is because we have a whole box of baby stuff (toys and clothes) and want to get it all washed and put away so I can start sorting through the closet and storage shed >.< And Im  ridiculous...I think my chosen things will go out of stock or be DC'ed....and im the type of person I see one thing and I want that, I can look at 40 other things and STILL want the first one... that's how it is with cars, apartments, dressers, and cribs lol... no joke.

Agreed on both! It is so nice to have walked through the past couple of years with this group (and yes, time has flown!). I feel like I "know" you all even though I've never met any of you in person. And I think it would be neat if our children ended up being friends!

  • Wonky/low temps are stressing me out this first month of detailed charting on FF. I need to relax and wait til I have a couple more months to look at but that's easier said than done.

Other PCP items that are happening recently include:

    • swimming (at least) once a week
    • putting going to the gym on my calendar
    • getting a storage unit (buy two months get one free, which is perfect 'cause that's mid July, when we hope to be moving/moved), we just need to start packing!
    • C getting serious about her photography business (extra $ and more creative energy in the house)
