Interesting...bank update
So I called our sperm bank of choice and the answer is...
No, they do not check criminal history of donors. Nor do they ask any questions related to criminal history.
This is one of the oldest and well known banks in the country so I have a feeling this is the standard practice for most. But to appease the DW I'll call the lesbian owned bank (b/c DW thinks they might be different??) and ask about their policy. Stay tuned (if you're at all interested)

Re: Interesting...bank update
:waits: ....I thought they would check that considering they check drug use! (Sorry to me they go hand in hand!)
The answer from the lesbian bank (as my wife loves to call it) is the same. No criminal background check.
But I'm thinking that most criminals are not going to have the patience to go through the long screening processes so it's highly unlikely they are in the system. Not that someone with a record can't be a fine donor. Silly DW is just paranoid we'll get egomaniac serial killer
serial killer-ness is an environmentally developed trait, not genetic, so you should be in the clear

lmao! And since K is in charge of the 'nurture' aspect of our child the burden to not produce a serial killer is all on her

When we get a BFP I'm having t-shirts made, mine will say NATURE and her's will say NURTURE. I'm thinking we should wear them when we tell family (if we get to do that in person).
(some day the SSH board should open up its own cafepress store-- I have seen some really neat ideas on here over the years!)
