What book are you reading?

I need some suggestions for my upcoming plane ride. ?I have recently read Eat, Pray, Love, The Book Thief, Atonement, Water for Elephants, The Stephanie Plum series, a couple Sue Miller books...that is all I can think of at the moment.

Re: What book are you reading?

  • I just finished Eat,Pray,Love and I've been also reading French Women Don't Get Fat. My next book club book is The Memory Keepers Daughter. I haven't picked it up yet though.
  • I'm currently reading "The Thirteenth Tale:,  Not too far into it yet, but I like it so far,
  • The Divide

  • I'm reading The Constant Princess by Philippa Gregory. I just finished Pope Joan and loved it.
  • Just finished "Baby Proof" by Emily Giffin, it's after her Something Borrowed and Something Blue books. It was very cute, a nice light read.

My next is "Love and Other Impossible Pursuits" by Ayelete Waldman. Haven't started it yet, but the summary seems good. They are in the process of making it into a movie.

  • Oh, and I read "Nineteen Minutes" by Jodi Picoult earlier this month. I enjoyed that one too....I don't normall like the endings to her books (and didn't really with this one either), but I did like the book as a whole, worth a read.
  • I just finished "Girlbomb: A Halfway Homeless Memoir" and today I started "Have You Found Her".  They are both by Janice Erlbaum and are memoirs.  The first one is about when she was a teenager and left her mom's and how she lived in shelters and her battles with addiction while still in high school.  The other one is about her volunteering back at one of the shelters 20 years later.  I read the first one in like 2 days, it was awesome.  I just started the second one this afternoon, but it seems like it will move just as quickly.

Oh, and before that I read "The Kite Runner", LOVED it!

  • the last book I read was Year of Fog - it was a good, quick read. I too just read Water for Elephants - I absolutely loved that one!

next on my list is Pillars of the Earth - it's just so big, that I'm scared to start!

    some of my favorites:

    Me an Emma

    My Sister's Keeper

The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns

    Gods in Alabama

  • I'm about 75% of the way through Eric Clapton's autobiography. It's an interesting read, but I'm amazed that he is still alive with all the drugs and alcohol he has ingested. Holy cow!
  • I just finished Sophie Kinsella's Remember Me? and am going to read Certain Girl by Jennifer Weiner next.
  • I really need to find more time to read. Maybe next week, I'll read a book or two while I'm on vacation. Maybe I can actually read that book a friend of mine let me borrow almost a year ago (or more!).

  • Certain Girls by Jennifer Weiner
  • I just finished Perfect Match by Jodi Picoult.  I didn't really like the ending - I don't think I connected really well with the main character.  I actually didn't really like her.  My Sisters Keeper by the same author was really good.  I couldn't put it down.

I also just finished The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs - I would recommend it if you liked Steel Magnolias.

  • I just finished Escape by Caroyln Jessop (regarding the FDLS that is in the news right now)

  • Right now I'm reading Angela's Ashes. I just started it, but really like it so far. Everyone I know who has read it has loved it.
  • I am reading Girls of a Tender Age.  It is a memoir -the author grew up in Hartford
  • A Tree Grows in Brooklyn...I remember loving it fresh. year of HS...saw it in Target and grabbed it the other day....
  • Ha ha, I guess I'm not much help...I'm reading Eat, Pray, Love right now and just finished Water for Elephants.  :-)
  • I just finished Marley and Me....it was such a good read!!
  • I am currently in my Chick Lit phase. I just finished Can you keep a secret? By Sophie Kinsella.
  • Recently finished Three Cups of Tea - loved it. It's a true story about a mountaineer who builds schools for girls in Pakistan. Highly recommend it.

On the to start reading list is The Witch of Portabello by Paolo Coelho.

  • I just finished "Friday Night Knitting Club" for my book club - it was OK, nothing great.  I'm supposed to be reading "The Perfect Wife" next but haven't picked it up.

I've also read "The Pact," "I Dont' Know How She Does It" and "Little Children" lately - would recommend them all.

  • I'm reading the Reluctant Fundamentalist again and loving it.  I highly recommend!  I'm reading Eat, Pray, Love next.
  • I just finished The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett.  It was pretty good but verrrrry long (almost 1000 pages).  Now I'm reading The Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan, and I have The Man Of My Dreams by Curtis Sittenfeld waiting after that.

  • I'm reading Harvesting the Heart by Jodi Picoult, I've read a bunch of her books and liked them all so I picked up a couple more while I was at Borders the other day...I recently read The Time Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger and I like that one a lot, even though it was a bit long.

  • I'm currently reading "Lamb, The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Friend" By Christopher Moore.  Funny!!!
The Book of Love Has Music in It
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • I'm presently re-reading By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept, by Paolo Coelho. The first time around, I couldn't get into it, because I was planning my wedding, and I just couldn't focus on anything that wasn't wedding-related (shocking). And, I'm also reading - along with DH - The Monks of New Skete. It's a pretty good and informative read - for the dog lovers out there. The monks take on a spiritual aspect of dog training.
