question for the mommies...

Who is your obgyn?  Were you happy with him/her?  I have two that I've gone to for the past few years and I can't decide whether to go with one of them long term (we are going to start trying for kiddies soon) or go with someone totally different.

Seriously, I feel like the chick on "knocked up" interviewing my obgyns for delivery of the child that I haven't even conceived!  I've been thinking about this for years which is why I have two obgyns rather than one!  Uggh, I need help, right?  Lead me in the right direction ladies.

Re: question for the mommies...

  • Hi Marissa, yay for trying for babies! I love my obgyn. Dr. Tammy Kelly. She is with Woman's Specialty Care. They have offices all around town. She is only at the Summerlin and Centennial location. I developed high blood pressure during my pregnancy. She was great with me. She is a mother of three herself, I like that about her. She came through and delivered Gianna at 3am...she came to the hospital bedhead and all. That was huge to me ( another dr. in her practice was on call).

Good luck on the obgyn search and the baby making!

Darn, my only problem is that I live nowhere near Summerlin.  I'm in the far Southwest side of the Valley.  I have another appointment next month with the female doctor (the other is a male) for my second pap in 8 months (only schedule so many so I can feel out teh doctors, LOL!).  Seriously, I feel like a nutjob.

  • Hi! I use Dr. David Kartzinel....LOVE HIM!!!  Two of my co-workers used him as well.  His office is right next to Sunrise...which I know isn't too close to you.  He delivers here as well and was great thru my entire pregnancy.  I am thinking that finding someone at Southern Hills would be best, right?  I know that would be close to your house and work too?  Let me know I can try and investigate a referral for that area.

  • Hey! Not a mommy, as you know, but I go to Dr. Kirsten Rojas. She's at Southern Hills Hospital now. We aren't planning on staying here once we have kids, but she makes me strongly consider it just so she could be my doctor. I love her that much. She found and diagnosed my thyroid problem and by the time I got to the specialist they didn't even need to really do anything. She took care of it all.

Kirsten is my doctor right now, RSP.  Big Smile  Yes, Gina, I would love it if you can give me recs for docs who deliver at Southern Hills or Spring Valley or the new St. Rose (southwest part of town).  All are close to me.

I love Kirsten, but she is crazy busy so I sometimes feel like her care isn't as personalized.  RSP, it sounds like you had the opposite experience, so that's promising!

  • I haven't been in a while, my annual is coming up in August. I get the feeling she is very busy, too. However, she did talk to me once for close to 40 mins. That was pretty nice.
  • I usually just lurk on the Vegas board.  I don't have an OB, but my best friend uses Spring Valley Women's Health Center. It's on Rainbow and Hacienda.

For a regular Dr. (internal medicine) I go to Leslie Jacobs at Jacobs and Modabor.  I can't say enough good about her.  The only flaw is it took 2 months to schedule my first physical.  Once you're in, you can usually be seen same day for illness.

Spring Valley Women's Health Center is my other doctor, haha.  And thanks for the regular doc rec.  I don't have one, so that's perfect.

  • Hi! Dr. Kirsten Rojas is my doctor as well. I have been going to her for about 2 years now and I have three other friends who go to her office as well. I initially went in to see Dr. Lisa Roberts but ended up seeing Kirsten for most of my pregnancy and she delivered my daughter as well. I absolutely love her and even though I live all the up by Aliante I still make the long drive to her new office because I feel she is worth the drive. ?Their new office is a lot nicer and less chaotic than the Summerlin office was. She seems like she is so rushed because she has so many patients but she really does take her time with you and makes you feel like a priority.?
  • Dr. Donna Miller delivered my DD#1--here is an old review I wrote about her a long while back...In short, I would not really recommend her.

I thought she was pretty good but I moved to Colorado & had my 2nd baby & realized how much better my Doctor here was--Dr. Miller was OK but the OB/GYN here really took/had the time to listen & take my concerns seriously. Turned out something Dr. Miller blew off w/ my 1st pregnancy occurred in my 2nd as well & required medication & weekly non-stress tests & close fetal monitoring --It could be life threatening to the baby--I am very glad I had a Doctor who had time & care to take me seriously the second go round.

AKA Carol*Brady! IHO my upcoming 10yr Nestiversary--Back to old screenname. My own Marsha, Jan & Cindy... imageDesigning a Life Blog
