Do you still write checks?
Do you still write checks when paying for stuff at a store?
I was at Target today and the lady ahead of me paid with a personal check. She took forever to write it out and the gal behind me started grumbling about 'it's the 21st century - use your atm card!' LOL!
I know she had her atm card - -I saw it when she flashed her ID! And no, she wasn't an old lady. She looked about early to mid 30's.
Re: Do you still write checks?
Online bill pay is my checkbook. ?Seriously, I even pay my friends through online bill pay. ?Stores get my debit card. ?The only checks I write are to Montessori and any donations to charity. ?That's it.
?
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
Costco will accept a debit card. I do it all the time.
I used to write checks a lot but then I got bill pay. I think I write 2 checks a month. Maybe 3. I hate checks.
I was at the grocery store the other day and I saw a older woman writing a check. But she was old so to me she gets a pass.
The only checks we write are rent and tithe for church. That's it. I can't imagine using them while out shopping, so slow!
I never write them when I'm shopping either but for random things like Dr's co-pays, property tax bills, DMV renewal or anything else I feel like I want a paper trail on I'll write a check.
H, on the other hand, lives by bill pay and he's trying to break me of the checking writing habit.
I always thought ATM was the only card they accepted other than AMEX. I use my debit there all the time.
Costco takes any ATM/Debit card (but it HAS TO run through with a PIN #, or they won't take it) and AMEX.
I wrote a check to the court yesterday ($365 thank you very much! UGH!).... the only check DH and I write together is to our HOA each month, that's it.
Another thing.... if you want to write a check at a store, START FILING THAT SUCKA OUT!!!
You know it's "to" Target, you know the date, you can sign your name, you can even copy your DL# onto it, BEFORE you get to the front and they have your total! Whew!
I have to laugh at those who won't use the debit card because they are "scared"....um.... scared of what?!?!? It's much easier to use someone else's checkbook than their card.
Ohh, I could launch into story after story of people who can't possibly fill their checks out before they make it to the counter because the conveyor belt moves as they're trying to use it as a table. Okay, I get that...but then fill the damn thing out while the cashier is scanning your stuff!!
LOL!!!!
I've been going there for years and they never accepted anything other than AMEX or Costco credit. Maybe I haven't looked recently and they finally joined the 21st century. My debit card was turned away a couple of years ago because they didn't accept visa/mc.
Yeah... Costco says that they don't take Visa/MC but if it's a debit with a PIN# it works fine.
They have always taken my Wells Fargo debit card (still a PITA because when I go to Costco I spend a TON and would like to earn points on my rewards card! Sheesh!)
