Anyone have Verizon FIOS?

We are getting it installed next Wednesday.  Just wondering how you like it.  We have Comcast now.

Re: Anyone have Verizon FIOS?

  • We got it about 2 years ago and I like it.  I was surprised that it took them a whole day to install it but I've only had a problem with it one time.  The only thing I didn't like was the one time I had to call with my problem was that I spent a long time on hold and couldn't get anyone who spoke good English!
  • Yes we got it a few months ago.  We really like the TV quality and the internet is fast, however it took them like 3 or 4 months to get our bill right.  We singed up for the bundle package, so it should have all been on one bill.  But for some reason we got seperate bills for each service, and each had a different account #.  It was a mess for a while but they cleaned it all up for us, and we do really like the FIO TV and internet.
  • Yes, we've had it for almost 3 years and I love it.  I never want to experience Comcast again.  Our service has been much more reliable, especially for internet and the tv quality is much clearer.  I like all of the tv channels and if you have HD, there are a lot more HD channels than Comcast.  In 3 years, we have had very few issues and far less than we had with our Comcast service.  Just like any company, customer service is not perfect, but we have had any issue solved quickly.

Also, if anyone else is considering it, you can negotiate the prices of all three services if you don't want to take their package offer.  It's a great way to save a little money.  You can also have someone who has the service currently refer you, and then split the referral money.

  • We're considering switching because I'm fed up with comcast's rates going up with out any sort of increase in service . . and now that the NFL Network is being taken away I'm really annoyed.  The only thing holding me back is my comcast email address that I've really become attached to.

My big pet peeve with all cable companies is they give you a great incentive to start service with them (great rate for 1 year) but then after that year you end up paying out the ass.  I wish they'd work harder to keep their current customers.  Maybe this thread will be enough to make me finally listen to DH and make the switch.

  • It's not available around here, and we're sooo jealous of those who can get it.  We hate Comcast, but are stuck with it for now.

We know lots of people who have it and have heard nothing but great things about it!

  • We've had the FIOS internet for over 3 years now since we bought the house and I love it.  It's always been extremely reliable and the one time I had an issue with our network I called customer service and this really nice guy did troubleshooting with me to get it fixed.  Our bill hasn't changed much since the initial install.

We don't have the TV.  We were interested in it but now that DH works for Dish we're getting ready to cancel DirecTV and switch to Dish.

  • We have it and love it.
