Hi! I'm new! *waves*
Hello ladies! My name is Stephie, and I'm a recent convert to Chicago. My husband and I moved to the area almost a year ago. He's a grad student at Northwestern, and I am a teacher's aide for special ed students in Evanston.
I don't have many friends in the area. I'm a DEFINITE wallflower! Lol!! We go out often with my husband's friends and their wives or girlfriends, but I don't have any friends of my own. I finally got off my bum and started googling message boards and meetup groups in the area. I went to a few marriedwomenmeetup.com events when we lived in Portland, but I've lost touch with those ladies. The Nest boards came up in my searches, so I decided to join and see what was up! I joined on Thursday or Friday but wasn't able to post until today--I've been sooooooooooooooooo busy!!!!!!
But, I'm looking forward to meeting all of you! See you around the boards!

Hi there. Forgive us for not being too welcoming. There are a number of us on the board, but it's been pretty dead the last few weeks. There's been some drama lately, so everyone's keeping mum.
Welcome Stephie! It sounds like you have been busy. We have a few other teachers on the boards right now, although at this point you're the only one who does special ed. How is being an aide different? (or is it?) Did you work in another field before this?
Sorry for all the questions, it just seems like a really challenging field. I considered getting my certs in secondary ed, but in the end decided that law school might be a better fit.
The new format takes some learning, but you can create a google pages bio if you'd like. It's what most of us have. That way we can see pics of you and your wedding, etc!
Welcome to the board! What neighborhood of Chicago are you in? At least half of us are in city proper, and we get together from time to time.
I also work in the education field, but I left the classroom 5 years ago. There are some great school in Evanston. Are you in a walk to or bus in?
