Property Tax Question

We have a new house so this year our property tax was low. We are trying to figure out exactly what it will be this coming year. Is there someone we can call to find out??

?

TIA!?

Re: Property Tax Question

  • I don't think there's a way for you to find out without your actual property assessment from BCAD.

What I would advise is to look up the addresses of comparable homes in your neighborhood?that would have had a full assessment last year?on www.bcad.org. You can see what their?property taxes were and base yours off of that.

?Also - if you haven't already, make sure you file for the homestead exemption.?

    ?Hope that's some help.?

  • Oc1406 asked this in a post farther down - I think one of the girls reccommended calling the assesor in May. They did the appraisals in Feb, but I don't know when they get the info to the BCAD websites Jenna gave you above.

  • Shoot me an email and I can check them out for you.  The tax amounts are NOT certified until around October for 2008 but I can call and get an estimate.  My email is ashley.gladney@firstam.com

  • Depending on where you live in San Antonio will depend on how much you pay.  I live in The Stone Oak area and it's 2.6% of your appraised amount.  Make sure that you apply for the Homestead Exemption.  Also the tax assessor's office assesses all property at 15% less than market value...

Example:  House worth 115,000 market Value, assessed at 100,000

    100,000 X 2.6%=2600

Go on Bcad and you can find out the percentage for your specific area.
