Losties....possible spoilers
so - what lies in the shadow of the statue????!!!!!
Re: Losties....possible spoilers
Memo kept asking me that last night!!! Gahh... and of course we couldn't remember who was asked that last week and then got knocked out??? I'm sure one of you knows.
Pure evil <insert evil laugh here>
I don't know, but how messed up was that episode last night? I thought so anyways....at the end, me and my DH were both like "huh?". He rewound and rewatched the end part two or three times, lol!
Nikki--They asked Frank (the pilot) the question and knocked him out for not knowing the answer.
Is the temple that Ben always speaks of, where Smokey resides, what's in the shadow of the temple? That's what I was thinking after last week.
The question now is who are these new "Losties"? I think it is pretty clear that they do not work for Widmore, but they know an awful lot about the island. I think they know what is in the shadow of the temple and that is their way of weeding people out for whatever they are doing. One theory I have read this morning is that maybe they are former Others or have at least been on the island.
And we now know that Widmore sought out Miles and the rest of the crew he sent to the island. But why? Was it because of their connection to the island, but, again, why? Miles obviously didn't know about his connection. I don't think Charlotte fully realized her connection. And Faraday is just one big old mystery.
I thought Naomi explained why Widmore wanted to recruit Miles -- because of his gift of knowing how people died and that would lead Widmore to the person that killed all of the DHARMA people (Ben).
I have no clue about the riddle of what lies in the shadow. It does seem like Ilana and the new "Losties" are all connected prior to their plane crashing on the island. The guy that kidnapped Miles in the van is one of the new "Losties" and they are the ones asking about what lies in the shadow ...
So, now we know that 2 of the samer person can exist in the same time period (e.g. baby Miles and adult Miles co-existing in the 70s). That throws a wrench in the Time Loop Theory, doesn't it?
maybe they buried Jughead in the shadow of the statue
yes - the time loop theory is kind of messed up now
I think wanting Miles for his ability was either only part of the reason or the cover reason. Why would Widmore care who killed the Dharma people? Oh, wait, he knew, didn't he? He was taken off the island by the the submarine, which orginally was a Dharma sub, right? So, he was still on the island when the purge happened.
I'm not following. Maybe I haven't had enough coffee this morning.
Yah, he must have known what Ben did all along. He just needed to find Ben after being banished from the island so he could get back to the island and kill Ben, I guess. At the point when Miles was recruited, I don't think he knew where Ben was. Maybe I'm off ...
You're right. I must be thinking of something else I read ... or I just made it up.
Here's how the TLT addresses it. They leave it pretty open-ended:
Q: If the plane goes back in time to 1996, what happens to the character?s counterparts that previously existed in the original iteration of time
A: Note that the island is in a time loop in the year 1996. Therefore, the characters lives' off the island is irrelevant, considering time is essentially "frozen" in the outside world. However, once the fail safe is hit, time starts moving again in the outside world. This is where the theory reaches an unknown point: will the characters who are now existing on the island in the past (season 5) "replace" their characters off the island, or will there be duplicates? Some of the LOST side-shows suggest that duplicates are possible, but we haven't seen any evidence of that on the show.
I posted while at work, but it's not here. So here is my 2 cents again.
Gipper's Girl: Thank you for posting that the guys in the van are the new losties. I was trying to remember if they were already in the show.
I miss Locke. I'm so glad Dan is back. I'm more interested in the Miles/Dan characters then Jack and co.
Here is a question about the time traveling that I can't figure out. Why could Charlotte remember Dan telling little Charlotte she would die if she came back, before he told her. Desmond did not remember Dan knocking on the hatch until the present day Dan went back in the past and did it. Then present day Des remembered it when he woke up.
I'm really looking forward to the next two weeks.

Because I don't think this is the first time Dan has been back in time. Remember, we saw that one scene of him in one of the first couple of episodes as part of a Dharma crew. Dan knows much more than we know and has more of a connection to the island than we have been told yet. Right now, my belief is that Dan has traveled back and forth in time to and from the island multiple times.
