John Madden is the King of stating the obvious.  For some reason I can't think of anything specific. 

 I think I'm the one person not sad that he's retiring.  If Collinsworth is Madden's replacement he'll be much better.

Packers were first and goal (like, on the 3 yard line) and Madden said, "I don't know why they aren't going to try for the field goal here."

I still laugh about it.

This is one of my favorites.

 I also love when he says things to the effect of "if they get more points than their opponent they`ll win." or whatever.  Really, his statements are so obvious and non earth~shattering, but thats their appeal in my mind!

i can't remember if this was Madden or Frank Caliendo but he said "the team who scores the most points will win the game."
