Why do posts get moved around?

I am not understanding this board.  All the sudden posts that I've already seen are at the top like they are new.  I don't get it.  Is that a feature or a fluke?

*sigh* I am not a fan of change...it took me a while to get used to the "new nest" just a couple years ago.

It's the "bump" feature...when a post gets replied to, it gets "bumped" to the top of the board, so the most active posts are always going to be at the top.  For some things, it's good (if someone posts a question that I answer much later in the day, it's more likely to be viewed again, for example) but it's a feature that works much better on slower-moving boards.  It's not a great feature here, where pages and the like are going to get lost.

ditto to what TnP said. ?It's the least favorite feature of most of us here. ?Ugh!

I don't like the whole bump to the top thing either.  I have a hard time keeping up with stuff here in the first place, this whole bumping thing means I'm probably missing a whole lot more.
