Another Decor Question

One of these days this will all be over and you'll be thankful.

Until then... I have a question regarding the chairs for our living room, which will also be used as end chairs in the Kitchen when we want to seat 10 or 12.  I was planning on black leather...but then I saw these chairs on craigslist, which are a similar style, and I was thinking that a print might work well.  What do you think?

It would probably be a green and blue print to tie in the kitchen colors.  (best match I can find)

And I know from experience that reupholstering can be a pain...but this would be an easier project than the one I'm in the middle of.

The chairs will go where the tv and red chair are now.  Unless I get Nick to cave and the sofa goes against the wall.  Then they will go across from it.

So please give me your opinion - in the poll or the post.

Re: Another Decor Question

  • What's the cost difference between the new chairs & the ones that you'll have to reupholster & buy fabric for?

  • I think that long term the black chairs will be more versatile than reupholstered chairs from Craig's list.  I also happen to like the nice clean lines of the black chair, and I feel it is a better match to the vibe you've got going in the living room.
  • The black chairs are $110 each.  The CL ones are $50 for the set.  I'd probably spend another $50 or so on the fabric, plus $15 -$20 in miscellaneous supplies (I have a lot of it already).

But I don't want to be penny smart, dollar stupid here either.

  • So basically, it's $90 more to not have to DIY anything.  I'd give the craigslist chairs a chance & see what kind of condition they are in and if they are solidly built- they may not even be worth it.  However, it's also $90 for real leather too.

I'd probably go with the leather.  $220 for leather chairs is a good deal.
