Moms: convertible carseat recs needed
We are starting to research convertible carseats so I am curious to hear what everyone has.
Also, if you and DH both drop off and pick up from day care, how do you handle having only one carseat? Or do you have 2?
Re: Moms: convertible carseat recs needed
We have 2 carseats - one for each car - as I drop off and he usually picks up from daycare.
We have Britax Marathons and couldn't be happier with them. They're not too big, they're not too small, they're JUST right. lol. Seriously - they are the middle sized Britax and it works great for us because DD is on the small side - but the seat goes up to 65 lbs, so we'll have it for a long, long time.
We have 2. We have the Graco ComfortSport for DH's car since he only does drop off and we rarely travel in his car. It is also one of the smallest seats, so it is good for his 2-door and the best option for travel and will fit in the plane seats.
I got the Marathon Britax and have been really happy with it. Installation is really easy, at least going forward. We never had to install it going backwards. It also goes up to 65 lbs, so we'll be in this until she is in middle school at the rate she is gaining. She seems very comfortable in it, and doesn't complain when she is in the seat...only actually getting into it which is a typical of a 17 month old. We got ours at www.travelingtikes.com which is cheaper if you don't need a specific pattern and there is free shipping.
We have 2 - one for me, one for DH since he does drop off and I do pick up. It would be too much of a hassle to have to remove and reinstall the seat every day.
I have a Graco Comfort Sport. It's ok. I registered for it so I didn't know what features to look for. It doesn't recline which means when DS falls asleep in the car his head just hangs down which I really don't like. It's also not as padded as I thought it was. It's a tighter squeeze to get it to fit in my 4 door sedan. Maybe once it's forward facing it will be better.
DH has an evenflo titan DLX. It's much more padded. It would not fit in my car but fits fine in DH's car (he has an expedition so anything fits in it). The chest buckle is a bit hard to get undone. It doesn't recline either, leading to the same head bobbing while sleeping issue.
We now have 4 Marathons. We each have two in both of our cars. IMO - it would be too much of a hassle to move the car seat each time you dropped off/picked up. Not worth the aggrevation.
I would recommend the Marathon fully - I mean I have FOUR - do I need to even state why?
another vote for the marathon and you definitely need 2 convertibles if you're both sharing pick up/drop off duties.
We just ordered our 2nd one from albeebaby.com last week and if you don't care about pattern, they have one for $209 with free shipping which is a great price.
Anyone have the Britax Boulevard? Trying to figure out if we should go Marathon or Blvd.
Somewhat tangentially, who the hel! is designing these fabrics?!
We have the Brtiax Marathon as well. One in each car. I had another type, but hated it in comparison to the Britax that I actually waited till they were on sale and bought another.
FYI Albee Baby has one one sale now.
