XP: For Better - March of Dimes
Hi there!
I NEVER do this, but thought this was an important cause and I hope it
is ok by knot rules... If you are willing, please considering checking out my post in
the For Better thread on the Nest titled 'March of Dimes in honor of
Maddie' http://tinyurl.com/cfaxxc
Not sure how the Knot will choose the winner of the ad space, but
if you could reply to get the number of posts up that would be great!
If you could learn a little more about the March of Dimes in the
process, that would be fabulous!
Thank you!
(if this post is totally against all rules please let me know to and I'll take it down)
Re: XP: For Better - March of Dimes
I replied. Thank you for posting this here. That is a terrible, sad story and the website nearly had me in tears. Way too many people take healthy babies for granted.
Being the mom of a preemie myself, there is nothing more irritating than hearing a 36-38 week pregnant women complain about wanting their pregnancy to be done with. Some women would do anything to make it that far. I can honestly say I would rather be 42 weeks pregnant and miserable than have to deal with having my baby being taken away from me and in the NICU.
I have a team and we are doing our march next sat! Since I have been fundraising, I have been surprised at how many people have no idea what the March of Dimes is all about. One of the guys I work with gave me some $$ and referred to it as $$ for the "disease walk" I am doing. Hopefully my team will reach our goal and help all babies be born healthy!!!
Thanks for replying! That is wonderful that you have a team walking! I wish I could, but I will be out of town for a wedding.
The saddest part, is that this is just one little girl's story, but there are so many more.
And I know what you mean about people having no idea. I think everyone has heard of March of Dimes, but they really have no idea what it is. I didn't know until 3 years ago when my niece was born a preemie. Thankfully, she is doing great now and about to have a birthday in a couple of months! I think for any parent this is a cause that anyone can really get behind.
I'm glad to see that Maddox is doing great. He is so adorable, congratulations!
Thanks Tiki for posting this! I have donated through Publix (my brother works there) and truly think this is a great cause!
MRSDMC: good luck next week!!
