help from nashville nesties (or anyone who knows the city)
my little SIL is graduating college in may & got a position at a
hospital in nashville. she moves in july & will not be able to
look at apartments before she moves there. scary, but we did it moving
to SD.
what area(s) would you advise her to stay away from?
if anyone rents an apartment & loves the complex, or knows someone who loves theirs, would you let me know the name? does anyone know of any places that offer a 30-day guarantee? for privacy, please fill free to email me (user name) or PM
me. i promise no stalking! i'd like for her to be living in a safe
part of the city.
thanks!
Re: help from nashville nesties (or anyone who knows the city)
I apologize for the fact that I know little about apt complexes - but I would say, that as a young person, I would suggest she look at these areas/neighborhoods, as there are a lot of recent college grads living there as well, so it would be fun for her:
?Vanderbilt area / West End
Belmont/HIllsboro
Downtown (there are a lot of cool lofts downtown!)
Germantown
Green Hills
Sylvan Park
12th South
She could look on realtracs.com to search rentals. ?Search for MLS area 2 if she wants to live in any of the areas I listed above.
Good luck and best wishes to her!

Which hospital? Since there are 4 main ones very close to each other, I'm going to assume Vanderbilt, Baptist, Centennial, or St. Thomas. Tell me if I'm wrong and I'll amend my suggestions.
Safe and convenient to all of those are the Grove Whitworth and Grove Richland. These are in the West End/Green Hills area, are gated, and are very popular with grad students and medical personnel.
I lived at the Gardens at Hillsboro Village and really enjoyed it. It is in Hillsboro Village and within walking distance of Vanderbilt Medical Center. It is also gated and the restored units have covered parking and hardwood floors.
20th and Grand is also okay, but I think a little overpriced for what you get.
The Bellevue area has some less expensive apartments, the commute would probably be 20 minutes and it is one of the safer suburbs for less pricey housing.?
Safety-wise, stay away from the Antioch area. It's a long commute anyway and traffic on 24 is terrible during both rush hours. Charlotte Pike borders Baptist and Centennial and would not be a good area to live in if she finds apartments there (I don't personally know of any).
Bottom line on apartments is, if it's cheap, there's a reason. I have yet to find a "great deal" on an apartment in a good area of Nashville. Of course, that's all relative since the COL is probably much lower here than San Diego.
Also check out Craigslist. Several people invested in condos just as the market bottomed out and they are renting them on Craigslist.?
Good luck!?
