Fabulous! A board just for the STL gals!

Ok, so maybe I shouldn't be so excited. It isn't set in stone that we're relocating to STL, but that's still my #1 choice. =) DH and I lived in STL back in '02/'03 on the South end by Arnold before the USCG transferred us to Louisville, KY.

Now that he's getting out, I wanted to go somewhere familiar but good sized, with friends we left behind. My concern is that to me, an Indiana-native, the Missouri area is terribly unfriendly. I hope that was just my experience the first time!

 Nice to meet you all!

Re: Fabulous! A board just for the STL gals!

  • i am from illinois and consider myself super friendly - i don't care where you grew up or went to school..bla bla bla. if you want to hang out and shop or walk the local parks, i'm always ready! i know there are some here that say the locals are hard core anti-friendly - but there are some nice ones as well!! where will you look to live?  will you work?? i am in troy il and work in st. louis - welcome back :)
  •  Now, see...the IL folks seem MUCH more friendly to me! One of my best friends is a guy we met while living there, who grew up on the IL side! But the locals on the MO half of the area...whew! Keep to themselves. :D Which is fine, I'm a Hoosier and most people think we're overbearingly friendly. My bad! :D

I'd like to live over on the IL side, and the Belleville/O'Fallon/etc area has been recommended to me repeatedly. I think I'll enjoy it much more than the Southside/Arnold area we lived in originally. ;)

I'm hoping to be a Full-time student once we're settled in, but I'm not sure how feasible that is in this correct economy, so I'll probably be doing sales/customer service again. I'd be happy with a part-time retail job right now, I haven't been able to find ANYTHING in MI the whole two years we've been here! It's all truck driving and dental assistants!

I'm not sure where the Troy, IL area is!

  • Whether you relocate or not welcome to the board.  I'm from Indiana.  I lived way out in the country growing up, moved here, then back to Indianapolis for a year and a half then back to the STL.  Good luck in finding a place if you move here.
  • Welcome.  I hope you like it here.

Also if you hear the term hoosier, here in STL it is synonomous with hillbilly and is nothing against people from Indiana.

  •  Hoosier = hillbilly? Interesting! Good to note. I'll try not to take offense. ;)

And awesome, another Indiana import. Nice to meet ya'll! :D

  • I'm a native St. Louisian and I'm not snobby.  We live in Arnold and love it. I think the people in Arnold are friendly and Fox School District is wonderful.

My sister and her husband live in Louisville.  My sister can't wait to move back to the St. Louis area.  Our parents live in South County.  My sister wants to live in Arnold like we do.

    Welcome!
