So, how did you meet your DH?
Re: How did you meet?
We met in the police station which makes for a great story! People think I was there for the wrong reason!
I did a ride along with a friend and met DH in the station. In the following months, I would go out with my friend and her coworkers and he would be there... our first date was to their work Christmas dinner.
Cute poll! I heart it.
DH and I met his freshman year of college. I'd already been in college for a year and lived in the all-girl's dorm. My sophomore year, they made that dorm co-ed, so he was one of the boys who lived down the hall from me. The first time I "officially" met him (although I'd seen him before) was Halloween night. He was going out with some friends of mine to an 80s party, and didn't know how to tightroll his pants. I got on the floor in front of him and tightrolled for him.
After that, I started hanging out with my girlfriends more, one of whom said, "Who's the guy in ROTC?" (They had an ROTC marker board on their door). I said that I would investigate, and met my husband that way. He wasn't in ROTC (none of them were, but he was the one who looked it, with his flattop hairstyle).
We became friends because he had a girlfriend, and then one day, he told me that he thought he was in trouble because he liked me more than he should. He broke up with his other girlfriend, and I was there for him. We started dating three months after that and have been together since.
We were both Army officers at the time we met and living in Germany. ?I was in the gym one day after work and I saw a cutie walking in and out of the weight room (I was on a treadmill so I had a prime view) but he didnt have his uniform top on so for all I knew I was scoping out an enlisted cutie which is a big no-no. ?
?Fast forward a few days and a girl that worked upstairs from me brought down a new co-worker and introduced us.....I turned BRIGHT RED and I probably stumbled all over my words because it was Gym Cutie. ?To this day he swears I was never in the gym because he "would have noticed me."
Apparently a mutual friend of ours had talked about me to DH previously saying how perfect we were for each other but then later decided that I wasnt quite right for him. ?This was before we had met through the coworker. ?Then one night I was out at a bar with the mutual friend and apparently he called DH and told him to come out too. ?That is how we "officially" met I suppose even though we had been introduced at work not long before that. ?
?We dated for a few weeks and then we both deployed to Iraq. ?DH says we did most of our dating in Iraq and that I was a "cheap date." ?We spent 15 months there seeing each other off and on (not seeing each other for months at a time). ?And the rest is history ?

I had just gotten out of a not so great relationship my freshmen year of college. My sister was getting married in June, and I was the MOH. DH was the best man, but he was in Cali in the Marines. We started e-mailing and calling each other to plan pre-wedding festivities. I didn't even realize it, because I was very much in a "I want to be single for a while and just have fun" stage, but I began to look forward to talking to him and I was anxious for him to come to KS. At the end of May he flew into MCI and I went with my sister and BIL to pick him up. We all went to IHOP and he and I ended up talking until 4am. We went on several dates during those weeks leading up to the wedding, and we kept talking about how neither of us wanted a gf/bf and how it would never work long distance. He stayed for 3 weeks after the wedding, and we were inseparable. We stayed together long distance for a year, and then he got out and came home! And they lived happily ever after...
the short story.
We met in 2001 while taking Aikido classes. I liked him from the first day we met but figured nothing would come of it (he's a few years older). My whole family has taken the aikido classes on an off since.
In 2006 my mother and sister started going again and I was asked to take my sister to class one Tuesday. I did and saw DH there. We got to talking and I went home that night thinking "Was he just being friendly or was he actually flirting with me?" We talked a couple more times before I had to ask a mutual friend of ours whether I was just imagining it or not.
I was so nervous about asking. When I did though he told me that it wasn't my imagination. We talked for a little bit and he hinted he could pass on my number...I gave it to him and went home with ALOT to think about. I waited for a phone call but when a couple of days had passed I figured he wasn't going to call. (I had talked to the friend the Thursday before July 4). On July 3rd I got a phone call but missed it. I called it back and froze when he answered. We talked for a bit and agreed to meet the next day. He came over and celebrated the fourth with me and my family (and extended family). He was so nervous he hardly said anything and sat at the kitchen bar the whole time. lol. We started dating and January of '07 he proposed and July 4th (one year since we started dating) we were married.
Brett was the cute guy in my Psych class my first semester of college. The girl behind me had another class with him and apparently he had talked to her about me! So she told me that he asked her if he should ask for my number and she told him to go for it...she told me this conversation (of course!) and I waited...and waited...and waited.
A week or so later I go into Circuit City with my dad to buy a new TV and low and behold...who is the guy who puts the TV in my car from the warehouse...the cute guy from my psych class! (BTW-I still have this TV!!
We chit chatted for a bit but b/c my dad was there we kept it short and still no phone # request! the next week before class he finally asked for it and we have been together ever since!
I did find out a few years into dating him that the reason that he hadn't asked for those few weeks was b/c his childhood dog had died and he was sad!!!! Awww!
