Coming to Chicago. Must do things!
Hey girls,
DH and I are comingo to Chicago tomorrow night. We are staying until Sunday. Thursday and Friday we will be spending time at the Coverings expo, but Saturday and Sunday we want to go places and eat good food.
Can you please recommend the places we must go to and also some restaurants nearby. I are planning of going to the Hancock observatory, navy pier, millenium park, Field museum to name a few.
Also, can you tell me if I need to bring a very heavy coat or a windbreaker will be enough?
TIA
Re: Coming to Chicago. Must do things!
First, the things to see and do. : )
Skip Navy Pier. It's a MAJOR tourist trap and home to crappy little shops and overpriced chain restaurants. Skip the Hancock Observatory but DO get a drink in their lounge 1 floor down. At that height the one story doesn't make a difference, the lounge is free to enter, and heck, you can get a soda if you don't drink. Check out the view from the women's restroom, too.
What kinds of food do you like? Let me know and I can steer you in the right direction. Check out chicagoreader.com and metromix.com to find some deals and ideas for places to check out.
As for the weather, who the heck knows anymore. They've been hinting that snow is in our future for two days, but it's supposed to be 80 this weekend. I'd say dress in layers, bring a windbreaker and a scarf. If you get cold there are TONS of wonderful places to pop in to warm up!
You should definitely walk along Michigan Ave aka "the mag mile" and see Millenium Park, home to the bean aka cloudgate.
Ditto the weather - it's supposed to be 80 and sunny this weekend, but it's in the 40s and rainy today.
