Anyone live in Point Loma?
My husband is interviewing for a job in Point Loma and we may be moving there in the beginning of June if he gets the job. We are looking for a 2 bedroom apartment for $1600 or less. We want a good safe area and hopefully at least 850 sq. ft. We are moving from Redlands where that size apt. goes for $1000 so $1600 is a huge jump for us. Can anyone recommend a good place to live? When you read the ratings online generally only the people who have had problems write reviews so I'm hoping to get some good recommendations from you all! Thanks
Re: Anyone live in Point Loma?
Have you checked out Craigslist yet for housing?? That should give you an idea of what rental prices are in the area and what is available.
As for the area itself, you are in the flight path of the airport BUT not everyone considers that to be a bad thing My DH would LOVE to live by the airport cuz he is a plane junkie! If you are up on the hillside, the views of downtown are very nice. There is a large Portuguese population so some of the smaller neighborhood stores carry some good Portuguese wine and food products. The old NTC site is now housing and it has a strip mall with all of the basics that you would need.
Check Craigs List and signonsandiego.com. But use caution; they are reporting scams down here regarding rentals by "property owners". Check the San Diego 10 News website tomorrow for the whole story (airs tonight, should be available tomorrow). The story will probably say which local agencies you can check with and other risk mitigation steps.
There are numerous property management companies down here. McMillan is the largest and will have the most property to show. Personally, my experience was that they spread themselves so thin that the service provided is not the best. So definitely check out other companies.
Pt. Loma is a great area. I really hope your DH's potential new job works out and you find a great place to move into.
Point Loma is one of the places I'm looking at. It's a cool area
