Hi... I'm a Houston nestie and I'll be in Chicago next week (4-21 to 4-25).
I have a client there (she's holding her wedding in Houston) who was going to have me do Bridal Portraits for her, but she's decided she'd prefer to have Engagement Portraits done with her fiance.
I know bridal portraits aren't as popular up north, but down here they're pretty much a staple of the whole wedding-shebang.
I'd really LOVE to have some edgy bride-in-Chicago pics in my portfolio (on the train, in front of the old water tower, Navy Pier, Millenium Park, Wrigleyville, notable architectural sites, etc.), and I'll be there all week-- my husband is traveling to Schaumberg for business, so I decided to accompany him. I've reserved a car, and have nothing concrete scheduled except for Wednesday afternoon/evening.
If you (or anyone you know) are interested in shooting with me, I'd love to hear from you. It would be absolutely complimentary, and I would provide you with the high-res files of the edited images so that you can print them for yourself (I am not looking to sell anything-- I would just ask that you complete and sign my standard portrait contract so that I have your permission to use the images in my advertisements, my website, etc.).
I am open to doing "trash the dress" type shooting as well, if that's something that appeals to you. I also wouldn't mind doing something a little Goth in the Polish National cemetery... some of the monuments there are just beautiful. I'm totally open to ideas-- the landscapes in your area are so different than those in mine, and variety in my portfolio is always welcome. If your DH would like to join us, that would also be fine with me.
If you're interested, please click on my blog link and contact me. Thanks!
Re: Does your dress still fit?
If I can get this ass in my dress, I'd be interested! There is a 50/50 chance....
I'll check out your blog and contact you that way
moniquitta... anywhere that is lit well will work. i shoot weddings so i'm used to low light! if you have a friend or could bring DH along, we could do some interesting off-camera flash type stuff (i'm not flying an assistant to chigaco...lol). i am not sure what my DH's schedule will be like when we're there, so heaven only knows whether or not he'd be able to help me out.
i've also done some gorgeous portraits under street lamps and such, they can actually be very dramatic. you'd be surprised how much light is actually available after the sun goes down.
this is a pic i took after dark that's one of my favorites. who'd have thought dead vones could be so pretty?
i think we're looking at approximately a 7:40 sunset (when the sun hits the horizon), so we'd need to do night stuff with you.

I would have loved to do it but I have a meeting Monday night, one on Wednesday night and then I leave for Florida late Wednesday. Hmmm, wonder if I can work in Tuesady....If you ever are back up this way let us know again!
Lisa
I would love to do it
YES! Please send me your info via the contact sheet, or you can e-mail to kasey at monkey-tree dot com.
For the bride in Schaumberg... that's where I am actually staying, so if there's anything interesting/pretty around there and you are available Tuesday evening, let me know. Pastoral/Arboretum type stuff is great... the florals and trees in Illinois are very different (from a photog's point of view) than in Texas, especially this time of year.
I am working with my client on Wednesday afternoon/evening, but aside from that I am very flexible until we leave for O'Hare on Friday.
To the people who have e-mailed me already-- I'll e-mail you back later this evening I'm getting so excited about this trip! Usually when I accompany DH to Chicago, I am tooling around looking for stuff to do (Cubs games, city stuff, heck I even went to Volo to the auto museum once, and drove to Milwaukee for a Brewers game and visited the Jelly Belly factory).
I LOVE my job, but it's sometimes to be totally crazy-creative with my paying clients because they have very specific expectations. I'm excited to be working with people who are just excited to be doing something fun : )

I just emailed you - but it sounds like you have a lot of brides already! I'd be your easiest, but that's all I can promise!
Good luck, and your blog is awesome!
